Growing up in The Bahamas, it’s easy to take these moments for granted. But every now and then, life slows down just enough to remind us that what we call “ordinary” is someone else’s dream.

Meet Tino Sands, the man behind Vida Cayo.

For Tino, Vida Cayo has always been about more than clothing. It’s about culture, identity, and the stories that make us who we are. It’s about continuing to tell those stories in a way that feels authentic, meaningful, and proudly Bahamian.

But now, the story is evolving.

Vida Cayo is shifting from being something visitors take home as a piece of The Bahamas, to becoming something Bahamian people can wear, connect with, and call their own.

Because our culture isn’t just something to be admired from the outside. It’s something we live, something we celebrate, and something we carry with us every day.

This is Vida Cayo. This is our story. And there’s so much more to tell.

Every Bahamian has a story.

Not just the big moments, but the little ones too, the stories shared on the porch, the sayings passed down from grandparents, the laughter over a pot of peas n’ rice, and the memories made by the sea.

At Vida Cayo, we believe our culture lives through the stories we tell and the ones we continue to pass on. They remind us where we come from, who we are, and why our Bahamian way of life is worth celebrating.

Because when we share our stories, we keep our culture alive.

Not because one always defeats the other, but because every generation must decide which voice it will follow.

For us, storytelling is more than entertainment. It is how we remember who we are. How we carry wisdom forward. How we preserve the spirit of a people long after the storyteller has gone.

As this chapter of Story Time comes to a close, we’re reminded that the greatest stories aren’t the ones we hear, they’re the ones we choose to live.

The question has never been whether good and evil exist.
