The Gemtabsa irrigation channel, which was damaged due to continuous rainfall on 5th October 2025, has now been successfully restored and completed with support from the Dzongkhag Disaster Committee through the maintenance budget for procurement of pipes.

Today, the irrigation channel was officially opened, and the water is now flowing smoothly, ready to support the upcoming paddy cultivation season. 🌾💧
The restored channel will benefit 48 households covering around 50 acres of wetland, ensuring a reliable water supply for timely paddy transplantation and improved agricultural productivity.

Bjena Gewog would like to sincerely acknowledge the valuable support received from the RNR-JOBS Project through the supply of 9 metric tons of potato seed (Yusi Marp) for the farmers of Khotokha.

Potato being the main cash crop of Khotokha, this intervention was mainly aimed at replacing degenerating seeds improving yield, and strengthening farmers’ income and food security.

📅 The potato seeds were received on 16 December 2025.
📅 A hands-on demonstration on seed sowing methods and proper fertilizer utilization was successfully conducted on 17 February 2026.

Such timely support is vital in strengthening the potato value chain and promoting sustainable farming practices in the gewog. We sincerely thank the RNR-JOBS Project for their continued support to our farming community. 🙏🌾
