โThe Broadhurst Magistrate's Court has sentenced a 51-year-old man to 40 years imprisonment for the repeated r**e of his 10-year-old stepdaughter.
โState evidence revealed that the convict began grooming the minor at just eight years old. He later sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions between March and August 2023, deliberately timing the attacks for when the victim's mother was away at work. While the young girl initially confided in her mother, the abuse went unreported to law enforcement, allowing the cycle of violence to continue.
โIn her judgment, Magistrate Mpho Setshegetso condemned the convict for violating his role as a protective parental figure. The court also highlighted that the man demonstrated zero remorse throughout the trial, noting with gravity that he carried out the assaults despite knowing he was HIV-positive.
