Been SO excited to get my hands on these kids books - aren't they just the sweetest?! A wonderful gift for a budding wildlife enthusiast.

Irene Smith-Vos is an experienced educator with over 35 years of teaching children across Southern Africa. Now based in Maun, Botswana, she draws inspiration from the wildlife and landscapes of the Okavango Delta, where she spends her days exploring nature and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Her stories, Tales Under The Baobab, are shaped by decades in the classroom and a deep love for the natural world, encouraging young readers to connect with animals, imagination, and the beauty of their African surroundings.

From the far north of Botswana in Pandamatenga, hill_roast_botswana_coffee is a micro-roastery bringing fresh, locally produced coffee to the region: they grow, process, sort, and roast their own coffee right on the farm. Hill's Coffee is known as a welcome stop for travellers and locals alike, serving quality local coffee with a strong community feel - positioning themselves as one of the first commercial coffee producers in the country.

Hill's Medium Roast has a well-balanced and light fruity tone with a note of apricot flavour while the Medium/Dark-Dark Roast has a smokey flavour with hints of cacao nibs and golden raison giving it a lingering & dense complexity.

Growing up, Neo sat beside her grandmother as she tailored clothes and stitched handmade dolls - moments that sparked her lifelong love for creating. Neo pursued an Associate Degree in Textile Design Limited, sharpening her skills and dreaming of a future in fashion.

Work wasn't easy to find after graduation, so Neo took a waitressing job - and it was there, in a small moment of inspiration, that her journey began. She spotted discarded boxes and turned them into stylish, functional storage pieces. That spark of upcycling grew into MOOD CRAFT Design , brand built on creativity, resourcefulness, and seeing beauty in the unexpected.

MoodCraft's success helped Neo buy her first industrial sewing machine, opening the door to garment creation and a growing community around her work. And now, shes come full circle, Handcrafted our toys and African Animal Cushions from recycled fabrics - the very kind of creative, challenging work she's always loved.

The Big (little) Five: Handmade finger puppets from Botswana

At 87, Granny Judith spends her days surrounded by wool, knitting needles and soft rhythm of creativity on her farm just outside Maun. A lifelong knitter and teacher, she has turned her love for the craft into a joyful art form - bringing Africa's most iconic animals to life, one stitch at a time.

Each finger puppet is lovingly handmade from her original patterns, transforming leftover wool into charming characters from the bush- the lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and the leopard.

These delightful little creatures carry with them Judith's warmth, imagination, and decades of craftmanship- a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and the timeless magic of Handmade work.
