GARDEN TIP: NOW IS THE TIME TO DIVIDE YOUR IRISES!

Late summer is a great time to divide German Irises to keep them healthy, vigorous and blooming beautifully.

WHEN SHOULD YOU DIVIDE?
German Irises should be divided every 3–5 years, or when you notice:
• Fewer flowers than usual
• Thick, overcrowded foliage
• Rhizomes (roots) beginning to push out of the soil

HOW TO DIVIDE YOUR IRISES
Dig up the entire clump using a garden fork or shovel. Gently remove as much soil as possible so you can clearly see the rhizomes and roots.
Cut the rhizomes apart, making sure each new section has healthy roots and at least one “fan” of foliage.
Trim the leaves back to approximately 15 cm (6”).

TIME TO REPLANT!
Choose a sunny spot and replant each section with the top of the rhizome slightly above the soil surface. Water well after planting.
German Irises are very hardy and should quickly establish themselves in their new homes, ready to put on a beautiful show in seasons to come!

What a great event! 🌿🍂 Thank you to Natalie and Sasha for hosting our Pot, Plant & Play Workshop at SaraVana Estate | Small Wellness Space | Essa - Alliston!

Stephanie brought everything needed to create the Botanix workshop experience on-site. Everyone made a beautiful fall planter and had lots of fun along the way! To end the event they even had a round of Plant Bingo! So much fun!

Did you know we offer off-site workshops? We can bring the workshop to your workplace, community space, event venue, or private gathering. Private off-site workshops are available for groups of 6 or more.
