I hope some of you can help me. The place where I have always had my photos printed lost my entire collection and the copies I have are not great.
Does anyone have a good photo of Elizabeth Yeager and Hanna B Fear that they can email me. I’ll be very grateful. [email protected]

I spent most of last week in the hospital, unfortunately and didn’t get much done. Yesterday I started printing again and will do more today. I really hope the website will be up this month and will let you know when it is. The old website will be removed once the new one goes up. I have quite a list of requests and most of those will be up and over time more will be added.
Thanks for your patience and kind words.

A belated Happy New Year to all of you and may it be a great year.

I’ve been printing patterns and next week I’ll have them made into pdfs. Of course I ran out of the ink for my laser yet and it will take about two weeks for another to get here. I’ve been talking to the website guy and I’m hoping that it will be ready to go this month.

I’m going through all the samplers deciding which I need to print and post initially and over time I’ll add more. If you have any in particular ones
that you’d like I’d appreciate it if you will let me know as they will take priority.

I really am grateful for all your positive comments and thoughts about my health and I know not all days will be perfect but we all have days like that.

Take care!
Hugs
Margriet

Wishing you all a wonderful Holiday Season and a huge thanks to all of you for your patience and support.❤️🙏🌟😍🦌🎄

High time I got back to all of you. Unfortunately I will be on chemo for the rest of my life but definitely have more energy and getting things done.

Ive started printing of patterns and will take them to the Copy Shop to have them changed into pdf’s. I’ve been in touch with my website builder and when that’s ready to go I’ll start adding the pdf’s, I’m aiming to have this ready to go sometime in January and will add the patterns to it over time. The ones that have been ordered will be the first to go up.

Thank you all so much for your patience and kind words. For those of you in the US a belated Happy Thanks Giving.

High time I give an update on things. I just finished round four of chemo and they have me down for another round in November. I’ll see the doctor before that and really hope the therapy can be cut back as I’m tired a lot and I’d really like to feel normal for awhile.

A huge thanks for the orders that have come in and I’m looking at putting a new website together and that the patterns can be downloaded and printed on the buyers end. The orders that have come in will be the first to be processed. I assume most people have a printer but they only print 8.5 x 11 inch papers. I can make them print out at 11 x 17 inch paper but you’d have to go to a printing company. In the past I have found that it’s rather pricey in the US to get things printed. Let me know which you prefer and then I’ll decide what size to have the paper at. The benefit will be no shipping charges and for those down south no tarrifs, although I don’t know if they apply. The mail is incredibly slow these days and Canada Post is on a rotating strike.

Let me know your thoughts and a huge thanks for all the well wishes.

Have a great weekend!

Margriet

The Atlas of World Embroidery

Princeton University Press has just announced the upcoming publication of The Atlas of World Embroidery: A Global Exploration of Heritage and Styles. The book was written by Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood, director of the TRC, and uses a large number of textiles housed in the TRC Collection.

The book is described in the announcement as "A richly illustrated history of embroidery and needlework, showcasing the glorious range of styles, motifs, and materials used around the world."

"Embroidery is one of the world’s most widely shared forms of creative expression—and one of its most varied and diverse. It can be found in every region, yet its visual languages, themes, and techniques vary greatly: some are marked by unique styles and others show influences from neighboring cultures. The Atlas of World Embroidery examines many distinctive embroidery styles and traditions found across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australasia."

"From the quillwork and birch boxes of Indigenous North America to the decorative matyo style of Hungary, the zardozi embroiderers of India, and the satin stitches of Han Dynasty China, Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood provides a comprehensive history of embroidery, describing its materials and tools, its designs and symbols, and its uses and makers. Emphasizing the visual aspects of embroidery across cultures, the atlas features an unprecedented array of color images celebrating the art form."

"Organized geographically by region and country, and focusing on hand needlework with relevant examples of machine forms, The Atlas of World Embroidery is a beautiful and authoritative exploration of this ancient craft."

"Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood is a design historian and textile archaeologist. She is director of the Textile Research Centre in Leiden, the Netherlands, and chief editor of the multivolume Bloomsbury World Encyclopedia of Embroidery. She is the coauthor of Dressed with Distinction: Garments from Ottoman Syria and Covering the Moon: An Introduction to Middle Eastern Face Veils."

- Lavishly illustrated throughout in full color with more than 300 images
- Features full and close-up images of embroidered fabrics, including household items and clothing, along with insightful analysis
- Includes sections on the Americas; Europe; Sub-Saharan Africa; the Arabic World; Turkey, the Iranian Plateau, and Central Asia; the Indian Subcontinent; East Asia; and Southeast Asia and Australasia—with subsections on individual countries, cultures, and kinds of embroidery

The Essamplaire News - June 2025

Dear friends,

I wanted to personally share that I will be pausing new orders at The Essamplaire while I undergo cancer treatment starting next week. During this time, I’ll be focusing on healing and taking care of myself, and I hope to be back when I’m feeling stronger.

I’m so grateful for your continued support, patience, and kindness over the years – it means more than I can say. While I won’t be taking new orders for now, I hope you’ll continue to enjoy your stitching and all the joy it brings.

Thank you again for being part of The Essamplaire community. I look forward to connecting again in the future.

Warmly,
Margriet
