AI for engagement ring research? Here’s where it actually helps.

Engagement ring shopping is overwhelming.

Sales pressure.
Conflicting advice.
Endless comparisons.
Specs and terminology most people don’t fully understand.

So when you find something that can instantly explain the 4Cs or summarize what to look for, it feels like relief.

Finally something that isn’t trying to sell you anything!

And for certain things, AI is genuinely useful.

Understanding basic terminology.
Summarizing tradeoffs between lab grown and natural diamonds.
Organizing your own thoughts and priorities.
Generating great questions to ask before you buy.

For that kind of foundational groundwork, it’s a really solid place to start.

But “to start” is the key there…

I work 1:1 with guys to take it from there. From that organized information to an actual confident decision.

The ring she saved on Instagram might not last.

Let’s say your girlfriend falls in love with a ring she found on Instagram and shares it with you.

What do you do?

You try to find that exact ring.

But here’s the problem.

Some of the most popular engagement ring styles right now are also the most structurally vulnerable.

1. Hidden Halos - stunning, and one of my favourite styles. I’ve helped people buy hundreds of them. But those small accent S diamonds that sit underneath the centre stone take constant wear. If the craftsmanship isn’t there, they’ll be the first thing to go. And you’ll end up in a never ending cycle of missing diamonds and repairs.

2. Very Thin Bands - there’s a big difference between a thin band that’s well built, and one that’s just… thin. Below a certain thickness there isn’t enough metal to hold its shape. Even something simple like opening a door puts pressure on the band. Over time, or sometimes right away, it’ll warp or break apart entirely.

3. Prongs With Too Little Metal - you might not know by looking at the ring. But you’ll know later when the stone starts moving or disappears.

This isn’t about avoiding these engagement ring styles. But you’ll should know the difference between one that’s made well and one that’s just made cheap.

I work 1:1 with guys to make sure the ring she loves is also one that’s going to last.

Luxury marketing understands emotional perception extremely well.

And the engagement ring industry is luxury marketing at its most sophisticated.

Think about what happens when you walk into a high end jewellery store.

The environment is designed.
The lighting is designed.
The way options are presented to you is designed.

Even the language used to describe a diamond is designed to make certain things feel more valuable and certain decisions feel more obvious.

None of this is accidental.

Luxury brands have spent decades understanding how environment, language, and presentation shape the way people feel about a purchase.

And when someone is emotionally invested in getting a decision right (like buying an engagement ring) that psychology becomes even more effective.

This isn’t a reason to distrust every jewellery store you walk into.

It’s a reason to understand the environment before you’re inside it.

Because there’s a real difference between making a decision and being guided toward one.

Curious what it looks like to have someone on your side before you walk in? Let’s talk.

There’s a real transparency problem in the jewelry industry.

Buying from a reputable retailer doesn’t mean the ring was well made.

Most retailers (both online and in store) source their settings from the same group of mass produced manufacturers.

That same setting can show up under ten different names, at ten different stores.

But the conversation about who actually made it, what quality standards it was held to, that conversation almost never happens.

This isn’t usually to be deliberately dishonest. It’s just not the norm to talk about it.

But it also means you’re making a decision about one of the most significant purchases of your life without information you genuinely deserve to have.

I work 1:1 with guys to make sure they have the full picture before anything gets purchased. Both the diamond and the ring.

Curious what that looks like? Let’s talk. 💍

Shopping for an engagement ring isn’t like shopping for a car or laptop.

You can’t just look at the spec sheet and know what the end result will be.

Two rings or diamonds can have nearly identical grades on paper.

Same carat
Same colour
Same clarity
Same cut grade

But look completely different in real life.

One bright and lively.
One flat and dull.

That difference doesn’t show up in a filter.
It doesn’t show up in a grading report.
And it’s almost never explained in a store.

But it shows up when you actually look at it in person.

This means the buyers who get the right ring aren’t always the ones who researched the most specs.

Instead, they’re the ones who learned how to evaluate what they were actually seeing.

That’s a very different skill. And it’s the one that actually matters.

Curious what that looks like in practice? Let’s talk.

When engagement ring shopping, a lot of people spend most of their time, energy, and budget thinking about the diamond.

Makes sense. It’s the centrepiece of the whole ring.

But I’ve had women come to me wearing rings they’ve owned for two weeks.

Two weeks…

And the band is already warped.

Or the head (the part that holds the diamond onto the ring) has nearly broken off entirely.

Or worst case, the prongs have failed and they’ve lost the diamond.

None of these were cheap rings.
None of these buyers made careless decisions.

They just didn’t know what to look for. And nobody told them.

The setting isn’t just a holder for the diamond. It’s half the ring.

And it’s usually the half that gets the least amount of attention.

The setting determines how the ring wears over time.
Whether the diamond stays secure.
If it holds up to real life.

A poor ring setting can warp or fail regardless of how good the diamond is.

I work 1:1 with guys to make sure both halves of the ring are right before anything gets purchased.

No commissions. No agenda.

Curious what that looks like? Let’s talk.

I don’t think jewelry stores are the bad guy.

Most of the people I’ve worked with have real integrity. They care about their clients and love what they do.

But the structure, the training, the incentives…

They’re all built around closing the sale.

Whether it starts with a diamond lesson, a private consult, or just browsing, the underlying goal is don’t lose the sale.

That difference is subtle when you’re inside it as a buyer.

As someone who stepped outside the industry, it’s glaringly obvious.

So know that the diamond lesson is part education and part sales technique. Know that hesitation is allowed. Know that needing to think about it or talk to someone else is a completely reasonable response.

And know that a great sales experience and independent advice are two very different things.

I work 1:1 with guys navigating this.

No commissions. No agenda. Just someone fully on your side.

Curious what that looks like? Let’s talk.

Your hesitation in a jewelry store is real.

Every hesitation I heard selling engagement rings had a practiced reply waiting for it.

“I want to think about it”
“I need to talk to my partner”
“I’m just going to look around a bit more”

Every single one.

A standardized response designed to keep things moving toward the sale.

And most of the time it worked.

But hesitation comes from somewhere real. If something doesn’t feel right, there’s a reason. And the pressure to decide in the moment is a sales tactic.

It’s honestly one of the biggest reasons I don’t do it anymore.

Want to know what it’s like to work with someone who doesn’t use sales tactics? Let’s talk.

The markup on a ring setting is so much higher than the markup on a diamond.

This means the salesperson has a real financial incentive to make sure you buy both from them.

That first consult, the diamond lesson, the education, the emphasis on the risks of buying a diamond somewhere else, it serves this goal too.

Knowing where the margin actually lives changes how you read the entire conversation.

There are two reasons almost every serious engagement ring consult starts with a private 1:1 meeting.

The first is genuine.

It builds real knowledge and increases your confidence in the person sitting across from you.

The second is more strategic.

A buyer who feels like diamonds and engagement rings are too complicated to navigate alone is far more likely to trust the perceived expert in front of them.

They’re far less likely to walk away.

And they’re less likely to go look online, visit another store, or buy from someone who didn’t provide that information first.

That controlled overwhelm keeps you in the room.

And it works because it genuinely feels like someone pulling back the curtain and showing you how things really are.

It feels like protection.

That feeling isn’t accidental. It’s the point.

Most of the guys I sit down with have only experienced being sold to.

I first noticed this when I worked in jewelry. And since leaving and starting my own consultancy, I’ve seen it more and more.

My goal with every client is to remove that stress and any negative feelings they’ve had with their engagement rings shopping. And I act as a buffer between them and the store so they don’t have to worry about being sold to or just shown a catalogue.

I work 1:1 with every one of them until that ring is in their hands.

I don’t take commissions from stores.
I don’t work with sales tactics.
I don’t BS anyone.

Just honest guidance and support for one of life’s most difficult purchases.

Curious what that could look like for you? Let’s talk.
