GUESS THE DESIGN!

Let's play a game! Can you guess the characters behind my new designs based on the beads, colours, and little details I've worked into them?

Here are some hints!

The wood beads represent a magical, ancient forest, full of mystery and spirits.

The white agate “teeth” beads, paired with deep blue lapis lazuli, recreate a very distinctive necklace.

The white onyx beads on either side represent two loyal companions who are never far from her side.

The fuchsia jade beads are a nod to the face paint that makes this fierce forest warrior instantly recognizable.

But here's the fun part... this is just ONE of the new designs I've been working on! I've created and designed a whole bunch of new charms that will be making their debut at the Toronto Game Expo on November 7 & 8, and I'm going to start giving you little sneak peeks along the way.

Artemis: What if I ate the Apple Pencil? What if I ate it RIGHT NOW? WHILE SHE'S USING IT!? What if I destroyed her entire drawing while maintaining eye contact?

This is a hostage situation with a Bengal supervisor who has absolutely no respect for the creative process.

It would be nice to know when the tiny furry psychopath decides my Apple Pencil is no longer a snack...... Artemis is thriving, the Pencil is scared.

Hopefully Artemis will loose interest in the Pencil so I can finish Haku in time for the Toronto Games Expo next month!

And our count down continues, only 3 short days away!

Ever wonder how we choose the beads for our character bracelets?

I don't just pick colours that look like the character. I try to sneak little pieces of their story into every bracelet.

For Jinshi from The Apothecary Diaries:

Imperial Purple Jasper — Purple matches Jinshi perfectly, but it also felt fitting for an imperial prince. And the name Imperial Purple was just too perfect to pass up.

Lava Stone — Korea's volcanic landscapes and traditional use of black basalt made this a perfect choice for tying the bracelet back to the setting and its history.

Black & White Glass — The white stripe looks almost like a brushstroke, which made me think of all those responsibilities and documents Jinshi would much rather avoid, but somehow always ends up piled high for him to sign.

Yellow Topaz — Of course, it complements the golden yellow of his robes, but yellow also represents the Centre/Earth in traditional Korean Five Elements symbolism and has long been associated with royalty and status.

So no, they're not just pretty beads.

Every bead has a reason. Every bracelet has a story. Which is also why we don't use acrylic or plastic beads, they might look pretty, but they are cheap amd have no story to tell.

And sometimes designing a bracelet means getting way too nerdy about rocks. lol

And today’s sneak peek is… *drum roll*

LEAFEON!

And this little leafy pokemon is extra special! Her bracelet features natural bioluminescent beads made from fluorite, which help light her way through the dark forests and woods.

So not only is she adorable… she literally glows in the dark!

We’re heading to London Comic Con and we have some exciting new things to show you!

We’re replacing our mass-produced charms with our own hand-drawn, hand-designed artwork.

OUR ART. OUR DESIGNS. NO AI.

We’re so proud of these designs that we decided they needed to be seen on more than just bracelets! We’ve now turned some of our original artwork into tote bags too, because apparently our art wants to leave the bracelet rack... LOL

And the best part? A new charm and design sneak peek every day leading up to the con!

Hamilton Comic Con is officially UNDER WAY, and we have a BIG surprise for you!

We’ve expanded our Otaku goodies with TOTE BAGS! Each one features our brand-new, hand-drawn designs that we’ve been working hard on as we continue replacing our mass-produced charms with artwork that is 100% designed by us!

And because we refuse to let a single scrap of our cotton iron-on transfer paper go to waste, we’ve also made some smaller iron-on patches!

So come check out our new and improved, bigger and better selection of Otaku goodies! There’s lots of new stuff to discover, and we’d LOVE to see you!

And because we are going to be WAY too excited and busy to sleep tonight… I figured there was only one Pokémon that could possibly represent today. ...

AND THAT IS OUR BRAND SPANKING NEW .. SNORLAX!

I saved this new charm and bracelet especially for Day 2 because honestly, after all the prep, packing, stressing, creating, and excitement… we’re going to be sleeping like Snorlax after the convention!!

Only 3 days to go until Hamilton Comic Con, and todays sneak peek is none other than Mao Mao from The Apothecary Diaries!

This charm took me FOREVER to make! I went down a bit of a rabbit hole doing research on poisonous flowers and actually discovered the Poison Garden in the UK, which I obviously had to look into because...Mao Mao.

So naturally, every single flower in her little basket is poisonous, because we all know this girl sure does love her poison!

There are so many little details packed into this one and I am ridiculously happy with how she turned out. Come check her (and all the other new designs) out this weekend at Hamilton Comic Con!
