"My staycation cost? Don't ask. Worth it.

So, ""tropical summer staycation,"" eh? Turns out, building paradise in Quebec takes serious dedication—and maybe a second mortgage. But look at these beauties. Each one a tiny, verdant victory against winter's grey, or just the regular Tuesday. And no baggage fees. Almost. I mean, who needs a beach when you have this kind of... leafy extravagance? My partner thinks I've lost it. I'm just committed to leisure, apparently.

1. Hoya sp. PNG 419 6218 - Vining, thick leaves, subtle sweet fragrance.
2. Hoya blashernaezii subsp. siariae 'Orange' - Leathery leaves, peachy blooms, light fragrance.
3. Anthurium crystallinum 'Red Hope' - Velvety, heart-shaped, dramatic red new leaves.
4. Hoya kerrii 'Variegated' - Thick, heart-shaped, charmingly variegated succulent leaves.
5. Hoya kerrii 'Splash' - Heart-shaped, deep green, silvery splash variegation.

Anyone else's ""staycation"" getting out of hand? Asking for a friend.

"Who needs a vacation? I have these guys.

Yeah, I could fly somewhere hot. Or, I could just keep buying plants that make my living room *feel* hot. It’s basically the same thing, just with more watering cans and less luggage. Plus, no airline fees for my emotional support jungle. These tropicals? They're my little slice of paradise. And by 'little slice,' I mean they're slowly taking over every square inch. A small price for perpetual summer, right?

1. Alocasia 'Dragon Mint' - Velvety leaves, mint-silver, a luminous home jewel.
2. Hoya pubicalyx 'Red Dragon' - Leathery, dark, speckled, dramatic-flowered climbing beauty.
3. Hoya pubicalyx 'Pink Silver' - Speckled leaves, climbing, fragrant blooms, vibrant display.
4. Hoya fraterna - Compact, easy-care, small glossy leaves, sweet flowers.
5. Hoya UT248 6445 - Succulent, silver-speckled, fragrant blooms, very rewarding.

Tell me, what's your current plant obsession?

"

"My ""collection"" is a total accident.

I swear I just wanted ""a few."" But then you see these, right? These leafy enigmas. That Anthurium looks like it's plotting something, and the Hoyas? Pure chaos of pattern, impossible to resist. My shelves are groaning, but how do you say no to a plant that looks like it holds ancient secrets? My partner just sighs. Good thing I'm an expert at strategically blocking the light bill.

1. Anthurium AOS × Magnificum - Velvet dark leaves, silently judging you.
2. Begonia Dolce Vita - Swirling metallic colours, utterly mesmerising distraction.
3. Hoya sp. Sabah GPS 7950 6457 - Rare, wild origin, totally worth it.
4. Hoya Minibelle Splash - Small splashes, big addiction, my bad.
5. Hoya 'Wilbur Graves Splash' - Variegated mystery, making my wallet disappear.

Anyone else need more shelves... for ""just one more""?

"

08/16/2026

"Another ""just one more"" became five more. Oops.

My wallet screams, but my eyes... oh, they’re thrilled. Found these little textural weirdos. Had to have 'em. My partner probably won't notice, right? Just rearranged the shelf a bit. More like a major plant Tetris operation. What's a little extra humidity for their staycation, eh? Gotta keep the indoor oasis vibing, even if it means less walking space.

1. Hoya Erythrina × Valmayoriana Hybrid - Succulent-textured, deep green, sometimes burgundy-kissed leaves.
2. Hoya siariae 'Red' - Cupped, waxy leaves. Shades of red, chocolate.
3. Hoya sp. aff. burtoniae 'Quang Ngai Albo' - Variegated: creamy white, green sectors; succulent leaves.
4. Hoya sp. UT Mindanao 6298 - Rigid, thick, waxy leaves. Deep green.
5. Hoya sp. UT033 - Thick, leathery, waxy, solid green leaves.

Who else is running out of shelf space? Asking for a friend.

"My secret to a ""green thumb.""

Listen, between the snow outside and my ever-expanding collection, who has time for drama? Not me. These Hoyas? They’re the real MVPs. They mostly water themselves—or at least they pretend to. And they don't complain about my slightly neglected corners. Perfect for making it look like I have my life together, even when I'm just planning my next plant acquisition. It’s a gift, really, being this chill.

1. Hoya 'Jennifer' - 🌸 Chill bloomer, thrives on neglect.
2. Hoya scortechinii 'Pink' - 🌱 Easy pink blooms, unbothered beauty.
3. Hoya pubicalyx 'Red Button' - 🪴 Effortless colour, self-sufficient, just grows.
4. Hoya sp. UT-048 - 🌿 Resilient foliage, loves doing its own thing.
5. Hoya Piestolepis - 🤍 Calm presence, minimal fuss, maximum joy.

Anyone else's plants do more work than they do?

"

08/14/2026

"""Just one more,"" I said. My bank account wept.

My therapist says I have a ""collection."" I say it’s a strategic indoor jungle. Especially when it’s still kinda grey outside in Quebec, you need this green. So much green. Where else am I supposed to put them? Don't tell my wife I just bought another moss pole. This isn't an addiction if it keeps me sane. Right? Totally normal. Send help—or more plants.

1. Philodendron Paraiso Verde - Stunning leaves, a truly generous green monster.
2. Monstera deliciosa 'Mint Tea' - Fenestrated beauty, makes you forget winter.
3. Philodendron billietiae Variegated - Long leaves, takes up glorious vertical space.
4. Philodendron Burle Marx Variegated - Bushy variegation, a compact jungle dream.
5. Philodendron mamei - Sprawling silver leaves, the ultimate floor hugger.

Who else needs an intervention?

"Another Hoya? Don't tell my partner.

More Hoyas? Oui. Don't tell my bank account. Or my partner. Honestly, these beauties just fit. They're the long-term relationship you actually want. Low drama, high reward. And they don't ask for much, even when it's -30 outside. My personal little tropical staycation. Worth every... penny. Mostly.

1. Hoya Erythrina × Jennifer Hybrid - Trailing hybrid, deep green, coral-pink blooms.
2. Hoya Patricia - Compact vining plant, fragrant white and burgundy flowers.
3. Hoya australis 'Lisa' - Variegated foliage, sweet honey-like fragrant blooms.
4. Hoya bella - Compact, small leaves, abundant white pink blooms.
5. Hoya carnosa 'Compacta' - Rope-like foliage, unique, easy-care trailing vine.

Who else has a plant addiction they can't quit?

"

"Another ""oasis"" means another plant shelf, right?

My partner just gave me *the look* when I mentioned needing another ""serene tropical zone."" Like, where, Marvin? The ceiling? Fine. But these beauties—they practically curate themselves. They're chill. They don't demand much, just a bit of light and maybe a secret spot for my favourite mug. Worth every inch of prime real estate. Totally. Don't ask about the cost, though.

1. Hoya wallichii subsp. tenebrosa - Dark leaves, low-key, easy ""fit.""
2. Hoya nicholsoniae - Fragrant, elegant, totally worth the space.
3. Handmade Cat and Fox Ceramic Mug - Justifies another shelf, obviously.
4. Hoya thomsonii - Fragrant blooms, adds a touch of class.
5. Hoya sigillatis 'Atlas River' - Unique foliage, a must-have accent.

How do you sneak new plants into your ""zones""?

"

08/11/2026

"Another day, another 'essential' plant purchase.

I told myself: Marvin, no more. The shelves are full. The windowsills are maxed out. But then you see these. The textures. The patterns. It’s not hoarding if it's art, right? And listen, during a Canadian winter, a little tropical 'depth' is practically medical advice. It's for my mental health. Don't ask about the credit card bill. Or the square footage I've lost.

1. Hoya bella 'Albomarginata' - Tiny, waxy, variegated leaves, so intricate.
2. Arios Retusus - Stone-like succulent, mottled surface, truly unique.
3. Hoya lobbii 'Quang Binh' - Thick, glossy, jade green, beautiful texture.
4. Hoya sp. 'Tangamus' - Elongated, waxy, subtle venation, olive green.
5. Hoya sp. Phu Quoc - Polished, deep green, succulent-like, pure art.

How do you justify your 'one more' plant?

"

08/10/2026

"More Hoyas? Don't tell my bank account.

Alright, another 'easy' plant, Marvin? You're out of space, buddy. But look at these Hoyas. They're basically just… existing. Waxy leaves, chill vibes, not demanding a rainforest setup in my living room. Perfect for a Canadian summer that sometimes feels like a dry cough. A little humidifier close by? Fine. But no daily misting drama. So, yes, I 'needed' another one. They're so undemanding, it practically saves me money on therapy.

1. Hoya cutis-porcelana - Thick leaves, fragrant flowers, loves bright indirect light.
2. Hoya 'Rosita' - Peachy-pink blooms, compact vining, handles typical humidity.
3. Hoya verticillata 'Splash' - Speckled foliage, drought tolerant, thrives in homes.
4. Hoya sp. Aceh Splash - Silver splashes, forgiving, low-maintenance tropical beauty.
5. Hoya imperialis (Red Form) - Impressive red blooms, large waxy leaves.

Who else keeps justifying 'just one more'?
