We’re excited to have Nigel bringing Pop’sicles Frozen Treats all the way from Sherwood Park to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🍨

Originally from Lethbridge, Nigel is a semi-retired grandfather who enjoys bringing a little happiness to people wherever he goes. Throughout his life, he’s been involved in business and community, including spending many years coaching youth.

For Nigel, one of the simplest ways to bring people together is through food. That idea, combined with his love of connecting with others, inspired him to create Pop’sicles Frozen Treats - an ice cream truck serving novelty frozen treats and bringing a little joy to the community. 🧡

✨ Please Welcome Aaron Alexander The Great! ✨

We are excited to welcome Aaron Alexander The Great to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

Tânsi! Aaron Alexander The Great is a Trinidadian and Indigenous multi-genre pop artist based out of Edmonton, Alberta, from Mosquito, Grizzly Bear's Head, Lean Man First Nation.

Aaron's journey into music began in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he discovered his passion for creating music. Growing up in foster care and experiencing the loss of family to the opioid crisis, Aaron found strength and inspiration through uplifting pop music.

One of his biggest musical inspirations is Ellie Goulding, whose music helped him through a difficult time in his life. Aaron hopes to create that same feeling of energy, hope, and connection for others through his own music.

“Pop music makes me feel alive and sparks this energy, something just clicked when I heard it when I was younger and that’s what I want people to feel when they hear my music.” - Aaron Alexander The Great

Since beginning his musical journey, Aaron has had the honour of performing at fashion shows across Canada and at Pride in front of crowds of more than 3,000 people. He has also had the incredible opportunity to share the stage with Réve, a JUNO Award-winning artist. 🎤✨

His music is about uplifting people, bringing light to his community, inspiring others, and creating something that makes people feel alive.

🎶 Aaron's debut single, “Move Your Body,” is now available on all major streaming platforms!

✨ Please Welcome Iana Testawich, 2026-2027 Peace River Senior Pow Wow Princess! ✨

We are so excited to welcome Iana Testawich to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

And we have an extra special reason to celebrate this young woman - Iana just graduated Grade 12! 🎓✨ Congratulations, Iana!

Iana is from Duncan First Nation and now calls Edmonton home, while continuing to stay closely connected to her home community and the people, culture, and traditions that raised her.

Iana is a Fancy Shawl and Jingle Dress dancer who has been dancing since she was young. And if you’ve ever had the opportunity to watch her dance, you know the energy she brings to the floor is truly an experience! 🔥

For Iana, dancing is much more than a hobby. It is a way to stay connected to her culture, family, community, and the generations who came before her. When she dances, she carries the teachings, stories, prayers, and love that have been passed down to her through her family, community, Elders, and the people who have encouraged her along the way.

Her journey through powwow and community involvement has also helped her grow into a young leader. She is already passing that connection on to the next generation, teaching her younger sister to dance and helping her get her own regalia. 🧡

Iana is passionate about encouraging other youth to become involved, learn where they come from, and never be afraid to take up space in their culture.

She currently holds the title of Peace River Senior Pow Wow Princess 2026-2027, and she hopes to use her platform to uplift youth, support her community, encourage cultural participation, and remind young people that they have an important place within their communities and traditions.

For Iana, dancing represents identity, connection, healing, pride, and carrying culture forward. 🧡

Did you know that Costco Wholesale's first Business Centre in Western Canada opened right here in Edmonton on April 6, 2021? Pretty cool piece of Edmonton history!

Located in Edmonton’s west end at 10310 - 186 Street, Costco Business Centre is open Monday - Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Sunday, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM.

I’ve always found this location to be really easy to get in, get what you need, and get on your way - and now they even have a gas station! ⛽

💡 And here’s a little tip: Keep an eye on your mail for the Costco Business Centre flyers. They often feature different deals than you won't find at regular Costco locations!

✨ Please Welcome Back Georgette “Bunny” to Roots & Relations! ✨

We are so happy to welcome back Georgette Lilley also known as Bunny, to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

Georgette is a proud Métis woman who grew up in Canyon Creek in Treaty 8 Territory, near Lesser Slave Lake. She lived there until she met the love of her life, Gary, in 1973. They married in 1974 and moved to Devon in 1975, where they built their life and raised their family.

Georgette was devoted to her girls and carefully chose work that allowed her to be there for her family. Over the years, she worked as a caterer and was involved with organizations and events including the International Children's Festival, MS Society, and Alberta Lung Association. She also worked at the Devon Inn as a breakfast cook, while Gary helped get the girls off to school. The family even made a point of meeting up for lunch, and Georgette was always there to welcome her girls home at the end of the day.

Georgette is professionally trained in fundraising and has worked with a number of nonprofit organizations. She is now a member of the Arts Society in Leduc and continues to keep creativity and community at the heart of her life.

After retiring, Georgette began seriously pursuing her passion for beadwork while spending time in Arizona, where she had the opportunity to learn from experienced Navajo beadworkers. She also taught herself many different beading techniques, with a little help from everyone's favourite teacher - YouTube! 😄

Her Métis heritage strongly influences her work, particularly the Métis sash colours and the art of weaving. During her time in Arizona, she also explored weaving techniques and learned to create items such as baskets.

And if you know Bunny, you know that beading doesn't stop at her creations - it becomes part of her own wardrobe too! Almost every outfit Georgette puts together has some form of beading incorporated into it, whether it's a boho-style touch added to a skirt or shirt, or a beautiful Indigenous-inspired detail that gives an outfit her own unique flair. 🧡

Georgette believes strongly in the importance of passing artistic knowledge on to future generations. Her work incorporates a variety of techniques, and she believes that sharing knowledge can help encourage understanding, respect, and appreciation for cultures and traditions.

Today, Georgette is a proud grandmother of three grandchildren and a great-grandson, and she continues to learn, create, and share her passion for the arts.

At the market, you’ll find Georgette's beautiful handmade beadwork and woven creations, each reflecting her creativity, her Métis heritage, and a lifetime of learning.

We are thrilled to have Bunny back with us and can't wait for you to stop by and see what she's been creating! 🧡

We are excited to welcome Tasha Gabriel of Amow Peyasis to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th for the first time! 🧡

Tasha is a proud Métis woman with family roots in Elizabeth Métis Settlement. She is a Métis entrepreneur who not only practices her crafts, but also shares her knowledge by teaching others.

🌿 Reiki & Totem Readings 🌿

Tasha’s journey into spiritual work has grown through a lifelong connection to intuition, spirit, healing, and teachings passed down through family and community.

Her approach is grounded in intuition, reflection, and respect for Indigenous ways of understanding our connections to ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

✨ Reiki Healing - gentle energy work intended to support relaxation, balance, and reconnection.

🌿 Totem Readings - exploring teachings, symbolism, and spiritual guidance connected to your personal journey.
