Good day cattle producers, This is Blaine Huston reporting from the Gladstone Auction Mart for Tuesday June 9th. We sold 861 head yesterday.

We had about 520 butcher cattle to start the day on a very strong market, here’s how they sold:

D1-D2 cows $2.30-2.60
D3 older cows $1.90-2.30
Feeding type cows $2.40-2.90
Bulls $2.90-3.2350

On the feeder side of things I’d call it a very strong market. We did have a lot of variety in quality and you can see that in the report. Here is a look at how things played out.

Steers:

4-500lbs- 750-815

5-600lbs- 645-765

6-700lbs- 595-650

7-800lbs- 500-580

8-900lbs- 425-506

9-1000lbs- 400-472

Heifers

4-500lbs- 670-750

5-600lbs-600-680

6-700lbs-510-575

Plainer type cattle and cattle with horns or bulls are seeing discounts.

Over all it was a very strong sale yesterday in Happy Rock

We have no sale next week. We have two more sale till we break for the summer. They are on June 23rd and July 7th. We do recommend if you have feeders to sell to sell them in the June sale. We had about 380 butcher cattle to start the day on a very strong market, here’s how they sold:

D1-D2 cows $2.20-2.55
D3 older cows $1.90-2.30
Feeding type cows $2.40-2.90 sales to $3.05
Bulls $2.80-3.14

On the feeder side of things I’d call it a very strong market. Here is a look at how things played out.

Here are some market highlights from yesterday’s sale:

We had a lot more heifers than we had steers yesterday.

- We had a package of 23 black and red steers weighing 999 pounds bring $4.4350 a pound ($4430 a head)
- 6 black and red steers come in the ring weighing 768 pounds and cash in at $5.51 a pound ($4231 per head)

On the Hiefer side of things:
- 58 black and red replacement style heifers weighing 828 pounds bring $4.98 per pound ($4123 per head)
- 43 black and red heifers weigh 741 pounds and fetch $5.31 per pound ($3935 per head)

Plainer type cattle and cattle with horns or bulls are seeing discounts.
