Good day, cattle producers. This is Blaine Huston reporting from the Gladstone Auction Mart for Tuesday, September 15th. We sold 434 head yesterday here in Happy Rock.
I’d call the market still under some pressure, with the futures being lower to start the day off.
We had about 100 butcher cattle to start the day. Here’s how they sold:
D1-D2 Cows: $1.90-$2.1550
D3 Older Cows: $1.20-$1.89
Feeding-Type Cows: $2.10-$2.35
Bulls: $2.40-$2.78
On the feeder side of things the market was fairly good all things considered. We did have quite a bit of variety in quality, and you can see that reflected in the report. Here’s a look at how things played out:
Steers
4-500 lbs — $6.75-$7.70
5-600 lbs — $6.00-$6.95
6-700 lbs — $5.20-$6.13
7-800 lbs — $4.85-$5.4750
8-900 lbs — $4.25-$5.00
9-1000 lbs — $4.15-$4.6850
Heifers
4-500 lbs — $5.25-$6.4750
5-600 lbs — $5.00-$6.0250
6-700 lbs — $4.90-$5.30
7-800 lbs — $4.10-$4.65
8-900 lbs — $3.85-$4.5750
9-1000 lbs — $3.50-$4.30
Plainer-type cattle, cattle with horns, and bulls continue to see discounts.
We had a full load of grass steers sell on video based at 925 pound fetch 4.6850 a pound $4333 a head.
Hopefully that gives you a good idea of how the market shaped up.
Our next sale is next Tuesday, September 22nd. If you have cattle to market, give us a call at 204-385-2537.
Our fall sales are starting to fill up so we’d recommend to start booking your calves in.
