A client came to me wanting this beauty, so we're going to do this on fake skin first, and then do it on her upper thigh, should be a fun and exciting job! ☺️😍

Bittersweet day today!

Got the Hofner Archtop restoration complete and the customer came and grabbed it, and with that happening, besides one or two more guitar projects that will be worked on over the next year, well, it's my last day in the shop for a while.

I hope everyone understands that life moves on at times, and like playing guitar, my hands just don't work the way I want them to anymore and it just isn't right to do shotty work because of my health problems.

Anyways, we'll see you again soon, i promise! 🖤☺️

An update for y'all.

So, it's with my thoughtful reasoning, that I will NOT be continuing to do luthiery after this spring season....

With the new medications I'm on, and being able to be back to work outside of the shop, I will be focusing on being in the woods this year, and getting back to the career I had prior to being diagnosed with this illness.

I will be finishing up ALL of the current projects on the go, including the tele build and the Hofner that is currently on the bench, along with the Rhodes V refinish.

I hope that y'all understand, but now that I am able to do what I love again, I just have to go try to do it, and I can't while continuing to work in the shop.

I am forever thankful, and grateful for EVERYONE who I have met and have had the chance to work with in the last 9 years, y'all have made me appreciate myself more and not feel like I was totally useless, and for that, I am ever grateful for you.

We will post a final date of closing on the coming month, as we will take April and some of may to finish work that is already in progress.

Live tonight at 7pm to start ripping frets out of the Hofner 455 and then start working on getting the neck off the body to be able to do the straightening properly.

We will be starting at 7pm est cad, and we will firstly be taking the frets out, they are so small and low, that it just buzzes even with 3.5mm action, so we're gonna Replace them with some stock gold/bronze wire in the vintage narrow sizing!

We are BACK in business for this year!

I have plenty of openings currently, but they are filling up FAST.

This year we're focusing mainly on Vintage Acoustic Restorations or repairs, but I DO indeed do electric guitar set ups and finish work mainly!

1950's Hofner Archtop restoration needs and have to haves. 🤷🏻‍♂️😐

Lot more substantial things at play like there being 29ths relief, and ZERO truss or hardened rod in the neck to counteract that issue, so we'll be needing a heat press to level it out properly or to take it away from the fretboard on either ends to make it straight or have what I call "perfect relief" at 6.5ths of an inch relief.

I hope my hand writing isn't too hard to read, but this is the entire list to make it PLAYABLE, if they want it in "Collectors grade" condition, a LOT more tiny and some big things need to be rectified to be considered "collectors grade" 😅🥲

Anywho, working out the price, and we'll send the quote off to the owner for approval and agreement! 😊🤘🏻🙌🏻

back to the shop tomorrow to start looking over the Hofner that arrived the other day, cannot wait to see how this beauty spec for spec was made and how much work it will also need to get it back to working condition. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤘🏻
