“Emotional Landscapes” by April Ponsford
August 22 - September 5
Opening Reception Aug 22 2-4PM, Everyone welcome, meet the artist in person!

Born in Prince Rupert, with its rugged mountain wilderness and lush rainforests, April developed a deep reverence for nature from an early age.

Through constant creative exploration of the natural world, April derives inspiration from special places and beyond.

Her canvasses radiate a quiet sense of mystery, opening expansive realms where reality blurs gently into imagined settings.

Her upcoming show “Emotional Landscapes” will feature a series of new paintings, rooted in nature, memory, and imagination. Each piece invites the viewer into an introspective journey, a shared experience of stillness, reflection, and quiet contemplation.

Obsessed with how this corner of the gallery is looking right now 😍😍

We’ve got some new work by photographer, David Ellingsen, in the gallery. We could spend all day peacefully lost in these landscapes that perfectly capture the beauty held here in the Pacific Northwest.

But there’s another side to David’s practice that grapples with biodiversity loss, deforestation, and climate breakdown. This thought-provoking work is currently on display at the Cowichan Public Art Gallery until September 12 and is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Meet Laurie Gray of No Roads Studio! Laurie Gray - Textile Artist

Based right here on Vancouver Island, Laurie creates one-of-a-kind accessories hand-dyed with natural plant pigments in her Campbell River studio. Since 2015, she’s been combining a passion for natural fibres with locally sourced botanical dyes. Working primarily with silk, Laurie draws inspiration from the forests, shorelines, and wild landscapes surrounding her.

Every piece reflects a commitment to sustainability, craftsmanship, and individuality—offering distinctive, artful accessories shaped by nature and made to be worn and cherished.

You can now find Laurie’s work in the gallery!
