8894 ...The Lockhart Lawrence Home. Circa 1868 ... COLONIAL.
Lockhart was a Master Builder, who at one time , also worked at his brother WD Lawrence's shipyard , on many of the ships built there, including the WD Lawrence. He was named after his Mother's side of the family, Mary Jane Lockhart.
Unlike most of the shipbuilders houses, his house, was shingled, rather than clad in shiplap.
This two story home, features the steeply pitched roof, and simple three bay façade typical of the Colonial style.
Eyebrow mouldings on these types of houses, were not elaborate.
The main entrance was originally a wooden door with "sidelights", and the more recent replacement retains that style.
