We freestyled a couple of dry fly patterns tonight. The first is a parachute and the second is an old school deer hair hopper. Let’s see if they catch fish.

This grasshopper pattern kinda actually looks like a grasshopper. We spent what little mental energy we had left in the tank designing this one, so we only tied one. Maybe we can tie a few more tomorrow. But no promises

We tied some larger ants to fill the box for a trip to this Labour Day weekend. Bigger fires=bigger fish, right?!

We freestyle tied three grasshopper patterns based of traditional, modern foam, and one that is probably too big. They float, but will they fish?!

We improvised a couple of dragon fly variations tonight. Inspiration after seeing a dragonfly in the yard. They should catch fish. We will see.

Tied a couple variations on som classic flies tonight. The first is the classic coachman but there some deer hair into the second batch. The second is the o’keefe special that I messed with the dubbing a bit. All the flies are looking killer!

Freestyle tied some streamers tonight. Some with the tail up, some with the tail down. I’ll report back with what caught more fish. My guess is the tail down.

We just love tying wooly bu**ers so we thought we would try some weird variations (first 2 pics). Then we tied a couple bastardized minnow patterns semi based off a video we were playing on YouTube. We weighted them so they will sink well and be a bitch to throw, they are big so hoping to catch some lake trout with these. At the very least we can catch pike. Pike will bite a bare hook.

We built ourselves a couple of weird looking wooly bu**ers tonight. Not sure they will catch trout but they should catch pike and walleye based on their size.

It was a beautiful spot but we saw no signs of catchable rainbows. Nothing biting or even rising. Oh well. It was still a great day.

I’m going fishing with an old homie from around the way this weekend so I’ve been tying bugs like crazy all week. These are the ones I took pictures of. An indicator beetle and the drop fly bead head nymph (which I caught a little rainbow on yesterday). This drop fly combo should be fire in a few days.
