MMeng Ceramics I am an artist currently focused on ceramic sculpture. I like painting and sewing too. I do live in the bush off-grid in the Northwest Territories.

I also change it up a lot which is good for creativity but bad for social media. Context is everything.

I had meant to post these leg and foot lamp photos more than a month ago, before they went up for . I’ll tag here too, to show how I ended up finishing the pieces I started in Medicine Hat. If any ceramic artists are considering applying, I would like to absolutely hype Medalta for having such an amazing residency experience, and how helpful and were to me, especially being really pregnant at the time. I had a baby since then, I’m not totally sure if posting baby pictures online is a good idea? But there’s a photo dump.

It’s legs! I’m finishing my project before I leave in residence. Let’s see how many make it through firing. I’m really hoping they’re translucent after firing.

I finally managed to successfully slip cast with polar ice (I wasn’t sure 1/2 way through). It has no plasticity and stuck to the molds the first few casts. I think I somehow seasoned my molds with smaller clay particles and now it’s releasing okay. It’s thin enough to be translucent to make the legs into lamps.

I’m seeing an odd community standard in Medicine Hat where people are clearing snow with leaf blowers and I can’t get over this.

Textile up-cycle challenge at the Yellowknife Makerspace! The info session is tomorrow (Sunday Oct. 5) and the contest will be Oct. 26. I’m really hoping people actually come we do a lot of instructional stuff but not a ton of creative education with textiles so I’m looking forward to this. Please show up!
