Exciting changes are happening here at Too Good To Be True. We strive to be continuously learning and improving on how we do things.
As the only maternity and children’s consignment store in the region, we are learning a lot every day. In particular, we have learned a lot about what sells, and what does not, and what our customers are looking for when they visit us.
DROP OFF DAYS will change each week (Some times we may only be able to accept for one day, but we will state that in our weekly Thursdays post regarding drop offs.) It will depend on what we need and how much space we have.
It is 30ish children's clothing(no 0-24 months, we can no longer handle the volume of those sizes) items per drop off and we ask that you wait to drop off more clothing until that is done, but no limit on other items. We currently accept all brand names in children's clothing except for certain brand names; Walmart, Athletic works, George, Essentials T, Tuti Fruti, Little Lass, Limited Too, Please Mum, Nevada, Old Navy, Sears, Child Of Mine, Jenny & Me, Disney Baby , 77 Kids, Vitamins, Absorba, Koala Baby, Disney Characters, Bonne Baby, Youngland, Walmart Marvel, Costco, Frozen, Crazy 8, Baby Ooga, Duck Duck Goose, Simply Basic, Tough Skins, Made with Love Place, Penny M, Pekkle, Kirkland, Ge**er, Snugabye, Bon Bebe, Baby Glam, Nannette, Little Me, Cherokee, Savannah, Teddys Choice, Lullah Bette, Baby Headquarters, First Impressions and all Carters. If a particular brand name isn’t commonly known, then we will pass on those as well. We have found that everyone has so much of these affordable brands that we cannot handle the volume, the larger the volume the more man power we need to process and manage it, and it is not affordable for us as a small business.(We still accept them in the items listed below.)
***Please note that there are still certain exceptions whereby we will accept ALL brand names (as long as they are freshly washed, no stains, no piling, faded or excessive wear) for THESE ITEMS ONLY: Swim wear, Sleepers/Pjs, Footwear(sizes 3 Toddler to 3 Youth), Holiday Clothing (Christmas and Halloween), Outerwear/Coats/Snow Suits/Snow Pants (Except for George, Disney or Walmart).***
***We will accept 0-24 Month Clothing in; Sleepers, Swim Suits, and in all Holiday Clothing (Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day...etc.) Also we will be accepting 0-24 Month Outwear(snow suits, snow pants, coats, rain gear..etc) including Car Seat Inserts and Car Seat Covers (except no outerwear in George, Disney, Walmart brands).***
Children’s Clothing Brands that we WILL BE accepting: (sizes 2-10/12 Only, we can no longer handle the volume of 0-24 month clothing.)
Joe, Gymboree, Gap, Puma, Adidas, Reebok, Cat & Jack, Asics, Mini Borden, Nike, Zara, Burts Bees, H&M, Mexx, OshKosh, Abercrombi, Hartstring, Justice, H & M, Under Armour, Lands End, MEC, LL Bean, Children’s Place, Bundles Baby Place, Jumping Bean, Hudson Bay, Timberland, Ivivva, Polo, Burton, Next UK, Ralph Lauren, Roots, Levis, North Face, Jessica Simpson, Tea, Paul Frank, Aden + Anais, Noppies, Rococo, Rene Rofe, Deux par Deux, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Little + Lively, Nordstrom, Kate Spade, Guess, Vonbon, Fisher Price, Baby Boden, Converse, Taggies, Janie & Jack, Levis, Indigo, Nautica, American Eagle, Guess, Hatley, Peek a boo Bean, Children's Place, Circo, Columbia, Roxy, Quicksilver and Hurley...etc. We are accepting higher end brands that are well known to Mom’s.
We will NO LONGER be accepting ANY items in BLACK GARBAGE BAGS! We have always required all clothing to be washed and folded and we will only accept ALL clothing, even maternity, in boxes that close for stacking purposes, plus you can fit more in a box if it is folded. We will accept outwear and footwear in clear or blue bags.
We will continue to accept any TOYS and LARGER ITEMS such as nursing pillows and bedding sets in BLUE or CLEAR bags only. It is important (and in your best interest) for us to be able to view items that are being brought in, in these large bags.
Regarding pricing, pricing is at the discretion of the store and consignors will receive 50% of the sale price of their items. We will give you an online account, allowing you to see whether your items have sold or not, and you can also check your balance. At any point you can come into the store and use your credit towards other purchases in-store, or collect your cash up to a maximum of $50. If you request $50.00 or more, we will process a cheque from your account between the 16th-30th of each month and require 7 days notice. The maximum payout per account will be $200 a month, including any $50 or less cash pay-outs and cheques. There is no limit when using consignor credit in-store credit.
The items that we are looking for must be in season, in NEW condition and current styles only. All clothing must not be; stretched, worn, torn, nobby, washed out/faded, woolen, holes, matted or melted fleece, knees worn, zippers missing pieces, buttons missing, frayed or damaged in any way. All Items must be freshly washed, clean and free of animal fur. If you items are not in new like condition and do not meet our guidelines, they will be automatically donate them.
We accept children’s clothes from sizes 2-10/12, (no more 0-24 months we can no longer handle the volume )children's shoes sizes 3 toddler up to size 3 in youth. We will accept Stonz ,Robeez, and Jack & Lily shoes in all sizes.
We will be accepting Maternity Clothing daily, within season. All Maternity Clothing must be current styles, no wide legged pants, or cords. We accept all sizes from X-Small to Plus Sizes, clothing must be freshly washed and in boxes that close.
Also, everyday we will be accepting our larger Baby Items such as Swings, Exersaucers, High Chairs, Booster Seats, Bouncy Chairs, Bumbo Chairs w/straps, Pack n Plays, Cribs, Mattresses, Diaper Genies, Exersaucers, Crib Wedges, Bed Rails, Jolly Jumpers, Bath Rings/Inserts, Baby Gates, Umbrella Strollers(all years) Snap N Go Strollers(all year) and Other Strollers typically in the spring/summer months, and all strollers must be 5 years or newer. We will only accept these items if they are clean, not missing pieces or straps, no animal fur and also have good working batteries if requires batteries. Smaller baby items watch for our evey Thursdays post on our time as to when we are accepting those items.
Toys are a huge seller for us, so we ask that they have NO missing pieces, they must have working batteries (if required), as these items will not sell if people cannot test them. We are asking for toys that are current, and we do not accept porcelain dolls, video games/electronic systems. We do not accept cardboard puzzles, rinky dinky dollar store toys and no stuffies(unless they require batteries)
NEW 'No Return' Policy: As you prepare your items for drop off we ask that you please pay close attention to all the policies outlined as we can no longer allow ‘Returns’ of unaccepted items during inventory processing. With more than 1560 consignors now we found ourselves overwhelmed with inventory in the Fall that did not meet our guidelines, which meant a lot of staff time (and storage space) was spent processing unacceptable items. We are a small staff and do our best to sell absolutely as much of your inventory as we can, however, we do not have the time to sort through a box of unacceptable items to find what ‘might’ be acceptable. And then to call for a 'return' and the items do not get picked up, so we end up donating all the items when the time for collection ends. We want to sell every item you drop off, but we know from experience now that if it doesn’t meet the standards above then it simply will not sell, so it will be donated to a worthy local charity.
We truly appreciate your understanding and adherence to our drop off policies as it will ensure that all of your items get listed and it will cut down on our processing times significantly. Thank you!
Items we do not accept:
-Items that are dirty, damaged, torn, nobby, faded, washed out, missing pieces on zippers, holes, scuffed, stained, melted fleece, knees worn, covered in pet hair, out of season or smells like mildew or cigarette smoke, baby vomit, mildew stains or pets, etc...
-Items that require batteries but do not have working batteries included.
-Race tracks must have cars and figurines with them.
- Rinky Dinky miscellaneous toys, figurines, dinkies, and cheap plastic dollar store toys.
- Frames ornaments, keepsakes, photo albums without packaging.
- Cardboard puzzles, puzzle books, books that have figurines, and books that have been marked on, buckled, pages torn, or binding broken.
-Recalled items, or unless you also have any recall parts included.
-Car seats and bases, and bike helmets. As per Transport Canada regulations, it is illegal to sell them second hand.
-Torn, flattened, well worn, or stained crib mattresses.
-Drop down side cribs.
-Breast Pumps...(we will accept manual pumps)
-Video Monitors(we cannot offer warranty for an expensive items/electronics)
-Used Bottle and Ni***es, Cuppies, Cutlery, and Dishes...etc
-Teethers, Rattles, Rinky dinky small baby toys.
-Used undergarments, training pants, etc....
-Out door vest, unless they are sports brand names. (They do not sell and just take up space on our racks.
-We no longer accept cords, wide legged or bell bottom pants/jeans, and we do not accept cords. All clothing must be current style, nothing outdated.
-Used socks or tights.
- Head huggers (wrap around the neck style).
- Used Potties, seat covers.
- Any type of belt and ties because they don't sell.
- Sleep Positioners
- Diapers, milk, any food.. etc
- Stuffed Animals of any kind, and child pillows, even new with tags for hygiene reasons.
