I’ve been falling in love with film photography lately!

I think part of what I love about vintage is the same thing that draws me to film the nostalgia, the imperfections, and the feeling of preserving something from a moment in time.

So I’m starting a little series here called Found on Film: a collection of ordinary moments, beautiful things and little details that made me stop and notice.

Come with me to pick up items from an online auction!

I snagged the most beautiful copper pieces from this online estate sale and I can tell the owner took amazing care of them! I also may have got a pretty much brand new Yeti cooler for myself! 🧡

This small blue jar has lived many lives.

Made in Staffordshire, England between 1780–1810, this Prattware paste jar once held medicinal or cosmetic salves, an everyday object in Georgian homes.

I love pieces like this because they weren’t made to be precious… they were made to be used.

Over 200 years later, it still tells its story 🤍

I’m always looking for more than just age when I source vintage! Here are a few tips I use!

Maker’s marks – these can tell a story about where and when a piece was made.
Research – I often use tools like Google Lens as a starting point to identify unfamiliar pieces.
Condition – I carefully check for cracks or chips so I know exactly what I’m bringing home.
Uniqueness – I’m always drawn to pieces that feel a little different or unexpected.
Usefulness – I look for items that can actually be lived with and used in the home today.

Vintage doesn’t have to be perfect but it should be honest, well-made, and loved 🤍
