Everyone has a role in protecting Pelican Lake from aquatic invasive species (AIS) since the spread
by humans is preventable.
Step 1: Clean, Drain and Dry (Law) watercraft and all water-related gear every time items are
removed from a water body.
Step 2: Did you last leave an AIS Control Zone or Restricted Access area? If so, you must
Decontaminate (Law) everything that came into contact with water from the water body before
launching in a different water body.
If YES, visit Manitoba.ca/StopAIS for the operating hours and locations of the provincial
watercraft inspection stations to be inspected and decontaminated. There is no charge for
this service.
If NO, proceed to the Pelican Lake boat launch in Ninette.
Step 3: Stop at the RM of Prairie Lakes’ municipal inspection station in Ninette for an inspection and
provide any provincial paperwork to the inspectors to verify. If you don’t have provincial paperwork, there is a cost associated with your inspection.
Step 4: If everything is in order, you can launch your watercraft.
