RED = Su***de,... we cannot win a spiraling out of control trade war against an economy 13 times the size of ours that currently buys 75% of our exports. Relax the Elbows for a bit and think about it.

YELLOW = Sensible,... escalation is self-destructive and continuing to talk shows good faith and keeps hope alive.

GREEN = Ridiculous,... we do not know what the demands are, so we can't possibly make an informed decision as to whether we should concede to them.

GRAY: Holy crap! Whoever said this needs to get their head in the game.

This may well be an accident, but it happens very soon on the heels of Doug Ford's renewed threat to cut off electricity to the northern USA.

Accident or not, it serves to inform and/or remind us that the oil and gas that Ontario gets from Alberta travels through the northern USA in a pipe.

This is the kind of stuff that our leades and media don't talk about as they get our elbows all wound up.

We don't have the cards we pretend we do.

It's weird how our leaders and media insist on calling the current mess a Trade War when it is really a Trade Su***de.

We'll have to increase our non-USA international trade by a factor of several hundred percent to even replace half of the business we do with the USA, and we have to sell to countries with a long established history of not really needing our stuff.

What if we would have blew Trump's 51st State comments off as a joke, laughed a little, then showed up at the negotiating table in good faith, playing no games, taking no digs, running no attack ads, hurling no insults, and throwing no Elbows?

This could have been different, but we're in it now, with our dumb pride at stake and no apparent off-ramps.

Here's the thing... the man leading Canada into trade war with the USA has over 90% of his investments in the USA.

He personally benefits from losing the trade war, so putting aside whether we should even be waging it, how can we even trust him to make a decent effort?
