Summer Crochet Camp Vibes!

Last week I run my first week of Crochet Summer Camp and it was bliss in my humble opinion. I will paint you a picture.

Four eager girls (age range 10 to 14). All (somewhat) experienced, meaning they all knew the basic crochet stitches. When my young artists already know the basics, I like to do what I do best, I wing it all!

I had some examples out - a scrumptious pile of crocheted sweets and treats. They choose to make fruits and macaroons initially. Later in the week we challenged ourselves to make donuts too, thanks to experienced Star Stitcher P. (14yo) who crocheted one and inspired the rest of us. See pictures.

We practiced a lot of skills:
/ How to start with a Magic Circle
/ How to crochet a circle or a sphere shape
/ Counting stitches and do mental math
/ Finishing a project - make it look nice and tidy, without any loose ends.

We also made new connections. I am thinking of planning a reunion sometime in the future, so we can kindle this new little circle of friendship.

This week proved us:
/ Connection through craft makes happy hearts
/ Inspire and support is what we do best
/ It doesn't matter what age you are and where you live when you are like-minded
/ When there is a will, there is always a way
/ We all have different strong suits
/ No one crochets the same, so all our projects are unique

If you are interested in signing someone up for our next Crochet Camp, please visit my website for more details.

Student led teaching is my game, and I love playing it!

No matter your age, your skill or your discomfort. I will find you where you are and lead you the way. No rush. No judgment. No specific end goal. Just finding the joy of crochet, together, and see if we can make it last.
