...a perpetual purveyor of the care-worn & cast-off object. I am a welsh girl born & raised in New York on the shore of Lake Ontario. After a few forays around the globe I am now a Canadian & call Vancouver, BC my home. My childhood was grounded in the rich inheritance of family traditions, love & lore. I was rocked to sleep in my great grandmother's cradle, learned to perfect the secrets of famil
y recipes using the same tools as my grandmother's grandmother & wore dresses that were once my mother's, made for her, by my grandma. I learned to love those things in our lives that hold a history. And from a young age considered estate auctions, church rummage sales & the lure of the thrift & antique store irresistible. Very often my little hoards find their way into my work as an artist. But more often, they lie in wait to be made into little curios displays, interrupting our home's quiet & clean post-modern aesthetic with a peculiar charm. I grew up in a beautifully big & rambling old farm house on Salter Road. The ramshackle barns & out buildings were my playhouses & where my treasure hunting found its footing. This little shop is a nod to those early days. Tethering, yet again, the past to the present.
