This week I was invited to speak at IAS, Princeton NJ for the 6th Annual Munsee Language & History Symposium ❤️
I shared my beading journey of healing and had so many personal works traveling with me to show and speak on their stories and the different stages of my life I made them in. It was true honour to share Lenape Creations in this special way to not only my community members but with other Munsee Delaware relatives from Ontario and the States 🥰
My presentation followed by many amazing Lenape, Munsee, Delaware artists who shared their own beadwork and quill skills that I was so happy to see and ofc meet them all in person!! 😍
I’m still getting my story out there, and this opportunity was a true milestone in sharing my storytelling through art and how beading has helped me gain self-confidence and connection to my identity as a Lenni Lenape woman. This was my first invite back to my homelands to speak on my story of beadwork, and I hope to continue to return and share my artwork here in anyway possible.
Featuring my newest Lenape Creations Medallion, my quilled Sassafras Earrings, my newest Pickerel Hide Bracelet and my very first T-Dress! Officially my 6th sewing project and only my 3rd one completed independently. So proud to wear my dress for the first time at this very special event surrounded by community and those wanting to learn 🥰
Much love to all who attended, and those who listened through Zoom. I will eventually be able to share the full recording of my presentation at a later date ❣️ Anushiik for the trust in letting me lead the Artists Discussion and for the many compliments!
