Unpopular opinion. Ultra modern Pokémon has always been about accessibility rather than profitability. The last few years was unusual. Selling brand new product at a loss is the norm for the hobby. The key to what will be the reason why many will unfortunately fail in the near future is the community support and differentiating yourself from the competition. It shouldn't be price alone as the reason why people return.
