انكسر بيت المفتاح؟ غالبًا المشكلة أكبر مما تتوقع

بما أننا حكينا سابقًا عن أضعف نقطة في العود،
حابب نوه على نقطة ثانية مرتبطة بنفس الموضوع.

لما ينكسر بيت المفاتيح بهذا الشكل،
ففي كثير من الحالات ما بتكون المشكلة محصورة ببيت المفاتيح فقط.

غالبًا بيكون في شق ممتد داخل الزند من هذه المنطقة،
حتى لو ما كان واضح من أول نظرة.

لهيك بهيك حالات،
ما بيكفي إننا نحط غراء ونكبس القطعة بمكانها.

لأن ضغط الأوتار مع الوقت
ممكن يفتح الشق من جديد،
وترجع المشكلة تتكرر مرة ثانية.

لهذا السبب،
إذا كان الضرر واصل للزند،
فالحل الأفضل والأكثر أمانًا على المدى الطويل
هو تغيير الزند بالكامل بدل الاكتفاء بإصلاح موضعي.

بالنهاية،
الإصلاح الصحيح مو دائمًا الأسرع،
لكن هو اللي بيضمن عمر أطول للعود واستقرار أفضل.

A Broken Pegbox May Be More Serious Than It Looks

Since we previously talked about the weakest point of the oud, I would like to mention another important detail related to the same subject.

When the pegbox breaks in this way, the damage is often not limited to the pegbox itself.

In many cases, there is a crack extending into the neck, even if it is not immediately visible.

That is why simply applying glue and clamping the broken area is often not enough.

Over time, the tension of the strings can reopen the crack, causing the problem to return.

If the damage extends into the neck, the safest long-term solution is often replacing the neck rather than relying on a temporary repair.

A proper repair is not always the quickest solution, but it is the one that ensures better stability and a longer life for the instrument.

بما أننا عم نحكي عن المفاتيح، حبيت أفرجيكم الفرق بين هذين النوعين.

هذا مفتاح الأبنوس التقليدي، واللي معظمنا بيعرفه وبيستخدمه على الأعواد.

أما هذا فهو مفتاح ميكانيكي، مصمم ليحافظ على الشكل التقليدي للعود، لكن بداخله نظام ميكانيكي متطور.

الميزة الأساسية بهذا المفتاح هي الدقة العالية أثناء الدوزان، لأنه يسمح بتعديلات صغيرة ودقيقة جدًا، بشكل قريب من مفاتيح الجيتار الحديثة.

لهيك كثير من العازفين بيفضلوا هذا النوع لما يكونوا عم يدوروا على دقة أكبر وثبات أفضل بالدوزان.

هدول مفاتيح من خشب الأبنوس، وفيهم ظاهرة جميلة جدًا حابب شارككم ياها.

خشب الأبنوس يتميز بكثافته العالية جدًا،
لدرجة أنه يُعتبر من الأخشاب النادرة التي يمكن أن تغرق في الماء بدل أن تطفو.

ولهذا السبب، كان بعض الحرفيين والتجار قديمًا يقومون باختبار بسيط.

يضعون المفتاح أو قطعة الخشب في وعاء ماء،
فإذا غرقت عرفوا أنها من الأبنوس الحقيقي عالي الكثافة،
أما إذا طفت على السطح، فغالبًا تكون من نوع آخر أو بكثافة أقل.

طبعًا هذا ليس اختبارًا علميًا دقيقًا بنسبة 100%،
لكنه من الطرق التقليدية المشهورة بين أهل المهنة.

These are ebony tuning pegs, and there is an interesting fact about this wood.

so high that it is one of the few woods that can actually sink in water.

For this reason, some craftsmen traditionally used a simple test.

They would place a piece of ebony in water.
If it sank, it indicated a very dense piece of genuine ebony.

ليش أوتار العود بترخي بعد الشحن؟ وهل هذا طبيعي؟
من فترة شحنت عود لأحد الأشخاص،
ولما وصل العود، بعتلي صورة وهو مرعوب 😅
لأن الأوتار كانت مرتخية بهذا الشكل.

وكان يفكر:
هل صار مشكلة بالعود؟
أو هل في خلل بالتصنيع؟

فقلت له مباشرة:
لا تخاف، الموضوع طبيعي جدًا…
فقط شدّ الأوتار من جديد.

هذه الحالة أواجهها كثير مع الأشخاص المبتدئين
أو الذين ليست لديهم خبرة سابقة مع العود.

الكثير يعتقد أن ارتخاء الأوتار يعني وجود مشكلة،
لكن بالحقيقة هذا أمر طبيعي جدًا،
ويحدث بسبب اختلاف الطقس ودرجات الحرارة والرطوبة أثناء الشحن والتنقل.

أحيانًا الوتر يرخي بشكل واضح،
وهذا لا يعني أن هناك مشكلة في العود،
سواء كان من صناعتي أو من صناعة أي صانع آخر.

الخشب والأوتار يتفاعلون دائمًا مع البيئة المحيطة،
وهذا جزء طبيعي من حياة الآلة الموسيقية.

Some time ago, I shipped an oud to a customer.
When it arrived, he sent me a photo while completely worried 😅
because the strings had become very loose.

He thought:
Did something happen to the oud?
Is there a problem with the instrument?

I immediately told him:
Don’t worry, this is completely normal…
just tune the strings again.

I face this situation often with beginners
or people who are new to the oud.

Many think that loose strings mean there is damage,
but in reality, this is very normal
because of changes in weather, temperature, and humidity during shipping and travel.

Sometimes the strings loosen significantly,
and that does not mean there is a problem with the oud—
whether it is made by me or by any other maker.
