I loved seeing so many squares, but now we're Friday and with few exceptions the only voices left posting about Black lives, justice, and equity are Black voices.
Black lives matter. Not all lives matter: Black. Lives. Matter. And white people need to talk about it too.
If those words anger or offend you, if you don't understand or you think it’s wrong that people are protesting, if you think "that's just in the US” and "that doesn't happen in Canada," or if you only just started learning about this and are interested in learning more about your white privilege and what you can help change: this post is for all you.
For the next week Made by Rydz social media will be focused on amplifying Black voices: sharing accounts, charities, media, companies, and doing our part to push back against systemic racism everywhere. Yes, even here in Canada. If you would like to learn more about this, please check out these Instagram & Facebook accounts, with more links to resources in my profile *all of my own business links have been removed for this week.
If there’s an account that has helped educate you, please share it in the comments. This is by no means an exhaustive list, just some that I’ve been following that I found helpful. They have done the labour-intensive, emotional work to educate, and all I ask is that you look, and listen, and give them your time. I’m open to pms as well if you’d like to chat more.
