WHAT’S REALLY IN THE AIR INSIDE YOUR HOME?
Wildfire smoke, pet dander, pollen, dust, cooking smells and other tiny airborne particles can stay in your indoor air long after you stop noticing them.
The Airthereal Pure Morning APH260 Air Purifier is designed to continuously filter indoor air and is a great option for homes, offices, rentals and other smaller spaces.
Its 7-in-1 filtration system includes a True HEPA filter and activated carbon filtration. The True HEPA filter is designed to capture 99.97% of airborne particles at the filter’s rated particle size, while activated carbon helps with smoke and household odours.
The APH260 is rated for rooms up to 355 sq. ft. (33 m²) with a CADR of 152 CFM / 260 m³/h.
It also includes 3 fan speeds, Auto Mode, Sleep Mode, a 12-hour timer, UV-C function, anion function and a real-time PM2.5 air-quality indicator so you can actually see changes in your indoor air quality.

WHAT MAKES A CAMPSITE “BARE”?
A bare campsite doesn’t mean an empty campsite. It means :nothing has been left out that could attract bears or other wildlife.
When you leave your campsite—even briefly—or go to sleep, securely store:
• Food and drinks, including unopened packages
• Full or empty coolers
• Garbage, recycling, bottles and cans
• Dirty dishes, pots and cooking utensils
• Barbecues and camp stoves
• Pet food and bowls
• Soap, toothpaste, sunscreen and other scented products
Keep these items in a hard-sided vehicle, trailer, motorhome or campground food locker—never inside your tent.
After cooking, wipe down the table and equipment, wash dishes in the designated area and dispose of garbage and dishwater properly.
A clean campsite helps protect your family and prevents wildlife from learning that campgrounds are a source of food. Keep your campsite bare and B.C.’s wildlife wild.🌲🐻

Garbage bags, gloves, paper towels, microfibre cloths and camping cleanup essentials are available at Dragons’ Den Janitorial in Sechelt

🏕️ FIVE CAMPING CLEANUP ESSENTIALS
When we pack for a camping trip, we remember the tent, food, chairs and sunscreen. It’s usually the small, practical things that get forgotten!
Here are five items worth adding to your B.C. Day camping checklist:
1️⃣ Heavy-duty garbage bags
Useful for campsite garbage, wet towels, muddy shoes and dirty equipment.
2️⃣ Bathroom tissue
Even a well-maintained campground can run out. Keep an extra roll dry and protected inside your vehicle.
3️⃣ Microfibre cloths
Compact, reusable and perfect for wiping tables, cleaning spills and removing condensation inside a tent or RV.
4️⃣ Protective gloves
Helpful when handling garbage, cleaning cookware or packing dirty camping equipment.
5️⃣ Dishwashing liquid
A small bottle is enough for reusable dishes, cooking utensils and coolers. Always wash in the campground’s designated area—not directly in a lake or stream.
Remember that food, garbage, soap and other scented products can attract wildlife. Store them securely whenever you leave your campsite or go to sleep.
Pack smart, enjoy the B.C. Day weekend and leave your campsite clean. 🌲
Camping cleanup essentials are available at Dragons’ Den Janitorial in Sechelt—and our store is open to everyone.

🏡 THE LEAST EXPENSIVE SEPTIC PROBLEM IS THE ONE CAUGHT EARLY

Many Sunshine Coast homes depend on septic systems. Most of the time, the system works quietly underground—so it is easy to forget about it until something goes wrong.
Septic trouble usually develops slowly:
• A tank goes too long without inspection or pumping
• Too much laundry and water enter the system at once
• Grease, food, wipes or paper products block the pipes
• Excessive amounts of bleach, disinfectants or other chemicals interfere with treatment
• Solids escape from an overfilled tank and reach the drainfield
• Vehicles or heavy equipment damage the field
• Tree roots, broken baffles or aging components restrict the system
Warning signs can include slow drains throughout the house, gurgling toilets, sewage odours, unusually wet ground, bright-green grass over the drainfield or wastewater backing up.
The best way to protect your money is simple:
✅ Know when your tank was last inspected and pumped
✅ Spread laundry loads throughout the week
✅ Never pour grease, paint or solvents down the drain
✅ Flush only toilet paper and human waste
✅ Keep vehicles and heavy objects away from the drainfield
✅ Call an authorized septic professional when warning signs appear

PROMAX Aquabac is a professional bacterial cleaner formulated to break down fats, proteins, carbohydrates and grease in approved drain, grease-trap and wastewater maintenance applications.
It is a maintenance product—not a repair for a damaged septic system, and it does not replace inspection or pumping.

IF YOUR HOME IS ON SEPTIC, WHAT GOES DOWN THE DRAIN MATTERS.
Your septic tank is not simply a holding tank—it is a biological treatment system.
Inside the tank, beneficial anaerobic bacteria break down organic waste. According to HealthLink BC, these bacteria can reduce solids by 50–60% when the system is working properly.
But that biological balance can be damaged. Pouring concentrated cleaners, strong drain openers, solvents, degreasers, paint, medications or excessive disinfectant down the drain can harm the microorganisms your septic system depends on. Excessive water use can also move solids toward the drainfield, increasing the risk of clogging and system failure.
What does a good-quality cleaning product mean for a septic household?
It is not automatically the most expensive product. It is a properly formulated product that:
Works effectively at a small, clearly measured dose
Is appropriate for your washing machine, dishwasher or cleaning task
Does not need to be overused to get results
Includes clear dilution and usage instructions
Pouring in extra detergent does not mean extra cleaning. It means spending more money and sending an unnecessary chemical load into your septic system.
Help protect your septic system:
Measure laundry, dishwasher and cleaning products carefully.
Spread laundry loads throughout the week.
Repair leaking faucets and toilets.
Never dump leftover cleaning chemicals down a drain.
Flush only human waste and toilet paper.
Follow your system’s maintenance plan.
Have the tank serviced and pumped as recommended—BC guidance says this is commonly required every 2–5 years.
Important fact: Your septic system already contains the bacteria, enzymes and other microorganisms it needs.
Good septic care is not about continually adding more products. It is about protecting the natural bacteria already doing the work.
Choose carefully. Measure correctly. Protect your septic—and protect your household budget.
Have questions about choosing or correctly dosing your household cleaning products? Come talk to us at Dragons’ Den Janitorial. We’re happy to help.

Why the Right Laundry Detergent Matters for Your Septic System
Everything that leaves your washing machine eventually enters your septic system—including detergent, stain removers and laundry additives.
A good enzyme-containing detergent breaks down:
🧬 Protein stains such as food, grass and blood
🧈 Grease, oils and body soils
🍝 Starches, sauces and carbohydrates
Because enzymes improve cleaning performance, you can get cleaner clothes in cooler water without using excessive detergent or harsh laundry boosters.
Your septic system depends on naturally occurring microorganisms to process household wastewater. Overusing detergent, bleach, disinfecting additives or other strong chemicals can interfere with this biological environment. Too many laundry loads in one day can also overload the system with water.
For a septic-conscious laundry routine, choose:
✅ An enzyme-containing formula
✅ HE-compatible, low-sudsing detergent
✅ A phosphate-free formula
✅ Biodegradable ingredients when available
✅ The correct dose for your load and water conditions
✅ Several smaller loads spread throughout the week

More detergent does not mean cleaner clothes. The right product, used in the right amount, is better for your laundry, washing machine and septic system.

What Makes a Laundry Detergent Truly Effective? 🧺
It isn’t the strongest fragrance or the most bubbles. What matters is the formula.
🌿 Phosphate-free
Phosphates can enter waterways and contribute to excessive algae growth, which harms water quality and aquatic ecosystems. In Canada, phosphorus in household laundry detergent is already strictly limited—but choosing a phosphate-free formula is still a responsible option.
🧬 Contains enzymes
Enzymes help break difficult stains into smaller particles so the detergent can wash them away more effectively:
Protease targets protein stains such as blood, grass and eggs
Amylase targets starches such as pasta, potatoes and sauces
Lipase targets oils, grease and fats
Enzymes can also improve cleaning in cooler water—but they don’t replace the other essential ingredients in a properly balanced detergent.
At Dragons’ Den Janitorial, we look beyond fragrance and packaging. We consider the formula, the washing machine, water conditions and the type of laundry being cleaned.
Because a good detergent should do more than make clothes smell clean—it should actually clean them.
Always follow garment-care directions. Some enzyme detergents may not be appropriate for delicate protein-based fibres such as wool or silk.
