Since 2023, Centra has put Black artists on stages and festival lineups across Newfoundland and Labrador. Again and again, we hear the same thing: people had no idea this much Black talent was here.
So we built something to change that.
Today we’re launching the NL Black Artist Directory: a public, permanent place to find and hire Black artists across the province. Visibility and permanence matter. They’re how we move the needle toward real equity for Black artists in NL.
Planning a play, a concert, an event? Consider Black artists when you cast and hire. You’ll find their contact info and social pages in the directory, so you can see their work and reach out directly.
This is one step toward a more diverse arts scene, and we’re just getting started.
