This is Not a Craft Talk:

Survival Strategies for the Fiction Writer in the Wild

With Susie Taylor

What happens when there is no one grading you, no one is giving you a deadline, when you are a fiction writer who finds yourself, out there, alone, in the wild?

This workshop is about how to get into a story, how to get out of one, and what to do if you’re in trouble. Through discussion and writing exercises we will talk about coming to the page, keeping things moving, and taking risks in our work.

The workshop will include creative writing exercises aimed at sharpening our prose, some practical tips on sustaining a fiction writing practice and knowing when and where to shoot your shot. Bring your courage, your voice, and something to write with.

Accessibility: The workshop will be held on Zoom, with a short break mid-way through. While participants are encouraged to turn on their cameras, it is not mandatory. Auto-captioning will be enabled, and participants will be muted except when speaking. Instructions for writing exercises will be spoken, and also provided in writing on the screen or in the chat.
