Wellness Wednesday with Andrea 💕

For those of you who have been following along with my Wellness Wednesdays, you may have noticed I missed a week.

And if you didn’t notice, that’s okay too—clearly I need to reach out more. 😂😂

Life has been a whirlwind since the end of July. My beautiful mom took her last breath on August 1st. As her executor, the days since have been filled with memorial planning, phone calls, paperwork and arrangements.

I am incredibly sad knowing I won’t see her again on this side of heaven, but I am also so grateful for her life—and for the example she gave me.

Mom would have turned 90 in November, and she was looking forward to that milestone. And right up until the last chapter of her life, she was living.

She exercised every day. She went for walks. She kept her mind sharp playing games and doing puzzles—Sudoku was her favourite. She loved people and joined as many activities as she could. She lived in a seniors’ residence and kept herself busy!

She used a walker because her greatest fear was falling—and then, in mid-June, I received the call. She had fallen and cracked her tailbone.

After several days of excruciating pain, she ended up in the hospital for about nine days. But even there, Mom was still Mom.

She made friends with the person in the bed across from her. While most people stayed in their hospital gowns, Mom got up and dressed every single day.

I would walk into her room and there she would be, sitting in the chair beside her bed, dressed beautifully, wearing her clip-on earrings and necklace, looking like a princess. ❤️

And yes…she still regularly beat me at cribbage. 😂

Even as her body grew tired after her fall, she remained determined to live according to the routines and values that had carried her through almost 90 years.

Her morning Bible reading never wavered. Neither did her love for her church, where she had been an active member all her life.

So why am I telling you about my mom on Wellness Wednesday?

Because she taught me something about wellness.

Wellness isn’t about having a perfect body or never getting sick. It isn’t about looking young forever or trying to outrun aging.

It’s about living while you are alive.

Moving your body while you can.
Using your mind.
Having routines that give your days purpose.
Connecting with people.
Taking care of yourself.
Finding joy in ordinary moments.
And nurturing the faith that carries you through both the beautiful and difficult seasons of life.

My mom did those things.

She loved deeply. She cared for herself. She exercised even when it became difficult. She kept learning, playing and laughing. She loved people. She loved her life.

And when the end came, she knew this life wasn’t all there was. She trusted that her loving Saviour would be there with open arms when it was time for her to graduate to her next adventure.

Maybe that’s the kind of vitality we should really be striving for.

Not simply adding years to our lives—but adding life to our years.

Isn’t that what we all desire for ourselves? ❤️

This Wellness Wednesday is for you, Mom. Thank you for showing me how it’s done. 💕

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY WITH ANDREA

If your body could send you one message today, what do you think it would say?

Our bodies are incredible. They are constantly communicating with us, but we’ve become so busy that we’ve forgotten how to listen.

Fatigue isn’t always “just getting older.”

Poor sleep isn’t always normal.

Joint pain isn’t always something we simply have to live with.

Cravings, bloating, brain fog, headaches, anxiety…these can all be gentle whispers from a body asking for support rather than silence.

What if, instead of fighting our body, we started listening to it?

Your body isn’t your enemy—it has been trying to protect you all along. The more you learn to listen, the more you’ll discover just how wonderfully you were created.

🌿 Future Self Friday 🌿

It’s important to picture yourself in the future. What we consistently envision often shapes the choices we make today, and those choices help create the life we live tomorrow.

Of course, there are no guarantees. But how we feel as we age is influenced by the habits we build today—and by how we see ourselves.

I love imagining myself living with vitality well into my later years. Riding my bike, walking through gardens, laughing with my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and embracing each new day with gratitude.

Life is such an incredible gift. When we focus on the beauty around us and appreciate the amazing body God has given us, we begin to care for it differently. Every nourishing meal, every walk, every moment of peace, and every act of gratitude is an investment in our future self.

So eat that rainbow of colour—and I don’t mean Skittles! 🌈😊 Fill your plate with foods that nourish your body, and don’t forget to embrace the beauty life has to offer.

💕 What is one small thing you’re doing today that your future self will thank you for?

I’d love to hear it! 🫶

Future Self Friday 🌿

Have you ever stopped to think about your future?

Not just where you’ll be financially in 5, 10, or 20 years… but where your health will be.

What do you hope your life looks like 15, 20, or even 30 years from now?

This is one of the questions I ask the women in my Journey to Vitality course because the choices we make today are quietly creating the future we’ll live tomorrow.

So I thought it would be fun to start Future Self Fridays, where I’ll share the vision I have for my own future self.

When I picture myself in my 90s, I don’t see someone simply getting by. I see a woman who is still thriving—riding her bike, going for walks, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, laughing, learning, and embracing every day with gratitude. I want to be strong, independent, and full of life for as long as God allows.

Of course, none of us are promised tomorrow. But we can choose how we care for ourselves today.

Every healthy meal.Every walk.Every good night’s sleep.Every moment we choose peace over stress.Every small habit is an investment in our future self.
Now I’d love to hear from you…

✨ When you picture yourself 20 or 30 years from now, what do you see?

What is one small thing your future self will thank you for today?

Share it below—I would love to cheer you on. 💚

Have you ever stopped to think about your future?

Not just where you’ll live or what you’ll be doing…

But who you’ll become.

What will your life look like in 10, 15, or 20 years?

More importantly…

What will your health look like?

One of the questions I ask the women in Journey to Vitality is this:

“Who do you see when you picture your future self?”

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself 10, 20, or even 30 years from now.

What does she look like?

How does she feel?

What is she doing?

Is she vibrant and energetic? Is she riding her bike, traveling, gardening, walking, learning, creating, and making memories with the people she loves?

Or is she simply hoping to make it through each day?

The wonderful thing is that many of the choices we make today help shape the woman we’ll become tomorrow.

No, there are no guarantees in life.

But every healthy meal, every walk, every good night’s sleep, every moment of peace, and every act of kindness toward yourself is an investment in your future.

That’s why I’m starting something fun…

🚲 Future Self Fridays! 🚲

Each Friday, I’ll introduce you to my 95-year-old future self! She’ll be riding her bicycle, making me laugh, and reminding us all that growing older doesn’t have to mean giving up on living well.

I’d love for you to join in too!

Tell me in the comments…

What do you hope your future self is doing 20 years from now?

If you’d like to learn how small, consistent habits can help you build a healthier future, I’d love to welcome you into Journey to Vitality.

Have you noticed how many advertisements are aimed at women, promising to stop aging?

Lose the belly fat.
Erase the wrinkles.
Try the latest anti-aging cream, serum, or treatment.

The message seems to be everywhere…

“Don’t get older.”

It’s enough to make a girl wonder if aging has somehow become a crime!

Before we know it, we’re looking in the mirror and noticing a few more laugh lines, a little less energy, and a body that doesn’t quite respond the way it used to.

But what if we’ve been focusing on the wrong goal?

What if aging isn’t something to fear…

What if it’s something to embrace?

To me, youthful vitality isn’t about having wrinkle-free skin or fitting into the same jeans I wore at 25.

It’s about having the energy to ride my bike in my 90s, play with my grandchildren, travel, laugh, serve others, and continue enjoying the life God has given me.

Real vitality doesn’t come from fad diets or punishing workouts.

It comes from learning to love yourself as you are and believing that you matter.

When you care for your mind, body, and spirit with kindness, something beautiful happens.

You begin choosing nourishing foods because you value your health—not because you’re trying to be perfect.

You move your body because it feels good—not because you’re trying to punish yourself.

You stop comparing yourself to everyone else and begin celebrating the incredible woman God created you to be.

That’s when real change happens.

If you’ve been longing for a healthier, more peaceful approach to wellness, that’s exactly why I created Journey to Vitality.

It’s not about becoming a different woman.

It’s about becoming the healthiest, strongest, and most joyful version of the woman you already are.

Because you matter. ❤️

PS - Don’t forget to have fun along the way🤪🤪 (My husband always jokes around that I keep him in line with a rolling pin 🙄 so we had fun at the Mennonite museum in their photo booth)

One of the reasons I called my course Journey to Vitality is because a journey isn’t a straight path.

It has twists and turns.

Some days you’ll move forward with confidence. Some days you’ll move more slowly. Sometimes you’ll need to rest. Sometimes you’ll stumble.

But the important thing is… you keep going.

This journey isn’t about racing to the finish line or becoming perfect. It’s about making small, consistent changes that become lasting habits—habits that help you enjoy more energy, better health, and greater vitality for years to come.

One of the first questions I ask my students to reflect on is:

What is your “why?”

Why do you want to make changes today that will create a healthier tomorrow?

For me, my “why” is simple.

I want to live with vitality well into my 90s. 💕

I want to ride my bike because my balance is still strong. I want to play with my grandchildren, travel with my husband, and continue serving others with the energy God has given me.

Are there any guarantees? Of course not.

None of us knows what tomorrow holds.

But we do have the opportunity to make choices today that can shape the future version of ourselves.

One healthy meal.
One walk.
One good night’s sleep.
One encouraging thought.

Those small choices add up over time.

So today, I’d love to ask you the same question…

What is your “why?”

And if you’re ready to begin your own Journey to Vitality, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Because you matter. ❤️
