THE WAIT IS OVER.
The N Scale Marine Industries 4550 cu. ft. Cylindrical Hoppers from North American Railcar Corporation have arrived at the PWRS warehouse.
We’re inspecting and sorting the shipment now, and orders will begin shipping as soon as that process is complete.
Based on the Canadian cylindrical hopper design developed for Marine Industries, these cars were used to haul grain and other bulk commodities across North America. This release represents the grain version, with its distinctive trough hatches along the roof.
The models feature:
• Two running board configurations, 11 or 17 supports, produced in etched brass
• Etched brass crossover platforms with individually applied supports
• Five different end configurations with prototype-specific bracing variations
• Two outlet gate designs, Toggle Lock and Spiral Cog
• Investment-cast capstans at the ends of the outlet gates
• Two hand brake configurations, conventional and “High Power” Ellcon-National
• Two reservoir positions, low for truck-mounted brake cylinders and high for body-mounted cylinders
• External brake rods and associated levers on cars with body-mounted brake cylinders
• Three trough hatch styles, smooth, slash, and “V”
• Micro-Trains by Atlas couplers
• Coupler cut bars
• Two bolster/jack pad styles, flat and sloped faces
• North American Railcar High-Performance Low-Friction Barber S-2 100-ton trucks with semi-scale 36" wheels
The release includes a variety of paint schemes, including Wheat Board of Canada, Government of Canada, “Happy Holidays”, (Canadian National 2 car set), “Environmental Graphics” (CN Repaint), (CNRHA Special Edition), and more.
And for N scale modellers, there’s an important first here: this prototype has never before been accurately produced in N scale.
