Where it all began…

These were our very first honey labels that I made for the few folks that we gifted honey from our first 2 backyard hives.

Safe to say, I had no idea where this hobby would lead me over the next 10 years!

Meet the Bees 🐝

Some of my favourite bee yard pics for the beginning of with Tracy

I have really lost my IG mojo lately and to be honest, I’m not sure how badly I want it back. But I do still have a real love for the beekeeping community here so I’m going to give it a (very non-commital) go 💛

The summer bees are dying now.

The colony will survive the winter by producing winter bees with larger fat bodies full of vitellogenin. It acts as a fountain of youth, allowing them to live 4-6 months over the winter so that they can raise the next generation of workers come spring.

Meanwhile, the summer bees will take their final flights on one of these cool fall days. The live only 4-6 weeks and their life usually ends with a final forage from which they don’t return.

But they have done the most important work - filling the hive with honey and pollen that will see the colony through the long winter ahead.

Decision time!
Local artist Carly Nabess is working on a new sticker/t-shirt design for us. These are my favourites of the drafts that she sent me, but I need help choosing which one to fully develop.
Which one is your favourite?
