What if students could do more than just write down an answer?

I recently wrote about the development of a Poll Counter I created for one of my Grade 3 lessons. What began as a simple classroom activity turned into a hands-on tool that went through several rounds of designing, testing, cutting, rebuilding, and simplifying.

I thought other parents, teachers, and children's class teachers might enjoy seeing how the idea developed.
