Hello 👋🏻 I’ve noticed our audience has grown over this month (thank you for following), so I thought it was due time to reintroduce myself!
I’m Leah, the owner of Scout. I opened our first shop in Roncy in 2011 and our second in Leslieville in 2018. Being part of both of these communities has taught me so much over these 15 years in business and I feel so lucky to do what I do and to have connected with so many incredible people through my work.
I worked retail for many many years before deciding to open my own shop. I was inspired by all the incredible brands and makers I wasn’t seeing represented in shops and felt a pull to create that space for them. Since then we’ve really grown into being a values based business that prioritizes community, eco consciousness and inclusive practices.
I didn’t go to university, I didn’t take any intensive business courses, I learned through working in different retail jobs for over 10 years where I was able to take on more and more responsibilities. That’s what gave me the courage and the confidence to take that initial risk and to keep going when new challenges came my way.
