Writing a novel is one thing. Reading it back like a reader would? That's a whole different kind of edit. Kobo gives Joanne the distance to see her own work with new eyes. โœ๏ธ

Whether you're cooked or cooking, Kobo's got you ๐Ÿ

[Video description: The title card reads: The Kobo Life in the kitchen. A woman cooks spaghetti and tomato sauce while following a recipe on her Kobo Libra Colour, pausing to jot notes in the margins with her stylus. Water splatters land on the device, but it stays fully functional thanks to its waterproof design. As she tries her meal she gets a call from Nanna and complains about the spice. The video closes with a shot of the finished pasta bowl plated in front of the Kobo, open to the cover of Home Style Cookery by Matty Matheson.]

Beta Kobo OS 6.0.2 is here! ๐Ÿ”ง

As promised, we paused our beta rollout to address the most pressing feedback from our community. And here we are with an update! Starting today, youโ€™ll see a prompt on your Kobo eReader to the latest software version available.

While this update comes with fixes and improves performance, the ground rules remain the same: it is still an OPTIONAL Beta release! ๐Ÿ˜‡

WHATโ€™S FIXED:
๐Ÿ“š Your reading stats and My Words list are back with your saved words intact
โฑ๏ธ "Time remaining" calculations are accurate again
๐Ÿ“ Your sideloaded books have been recovered, but if you had annotations/highlights lost, we are working on a fix to bring them back in a future update
๐Ÿ” Books using on-device Adobe DRM now open properly
๐Ÿ“š Some reported syncing issues for Libby and Kobo Plus books have been resolved
โšก Devices with large libraries no longer freeze during updates

โš ๏ธ If you encounter any bugs or face issues after the update, please reach out to our support team. DO NOT revert to a previous software version. That will permanently delete your data and prevent future patches from restoring it. With a phased roll out, this update will be made available to all eligible devices in the coming days. Thanks always for reading with us and taking part in the beta!

Come to book club with opinions... and enough annotations to back them up.

[Video description: The title card reads: The Kobo Life at the book club. A woman enters a cafรฉ carrying a tray of drinks and a Kobo Libra Colour, then settles onto a couch and begins highlighting her book using the Kobo Stylus. She's reading From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Two fellow book club members join her, and the group discusses their annotations together. The video closes with an overhead shot of their drinks on the table as all three place their Kobo eReaders down simultaneously.]

Dear Kobo readers, if you recently updated to our beta software and then lost data such as your annotations, highlights, side loaded content, My Words, and so on, DO NOT roll back to the previous version and stay on the software version youโ€™re currently on. Rolling back will permanently delete that lost data, which means that we wonโ€™t be able to restore it in upcoming updates.

Our teams are working hard around the clock on fixes, and the next batch of updates will aim to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. We will continue to update you with developments. Stay tuned and thank you for your patience and support as always! ๐Ÿฅฐ
