It was great to see “where your food comes from” on the Everest Base Camp Trek. Although at higher elevations it’s harder to grow anything, on the land between Namche Bazaar and Lukla, you find lots of polycultural farms like this one growing cabbage, spinach, what looks like carrots and potatoes, herbs and even tomatoes! 🏔🥗

Met this lovely creature sunbathing with a view on the Gokyo village and the Himalayan mountains while hiking up to Gokyo Ri 😂 man I was so jealous of this yak while I was struggling to catch my breath in thin air 🏔

I really wish I had more time to explore the Gokyo region, but at least we got to the top of Gokyo Ri and saw Mt. Everest for the last time before heading down to Namche Bazaar. Full story on the blog, link in bio.

Cho La Pass, the second highest pass after Kongma La Pass, and the second pass we crossed on our Everest Base Camp honeymoon travels. It was a tough one but the views we had are unforgettable, plus because the village of Dragnag sits right before the moraine, this pass crossing can be broken down into two "easier" days. Check out full day experience recap and tips on the blog.

Cho La Pass is the second highest pass on the Three Passes Trek which unlike Kogma La Pass we split into two days by staying in Dragnag.

On our we met a lot of animals. While yaks, donkeys, horses, and dogs are pretty popular on the trail, little cuties like this fluffy pika are rare. They scare easy but this one came out of its little cave unaware of our presence and I was lucky to snap a photo before it saw me and bolted. 😂🏔

After a brutal Kongma La Pass crossing that took us 11 hours and left me feeling like someone was hammering nails through my head... we decided on an extra rest day in Lobuche (one stop before finally seeing the Everest Base Camp). While there we found the “worlds highest bakery” where we had some awesome apple pie and coffee and watched Indian movies for a while. It was nice to just sit there and do nothing for a change...

Sunset over the Kongma La Pass of the Three Passes Trek. This is the view from within the moraine of the Khumbu glacier. It looks pretty extra terrestrial when you’re standing in the middle of a giant field of grey rock surrounded by the Himalayan mountains. This was the last push for that day and behind the wall of rock is the small village of Lobuche - our destination that night. More on the crossing of the Kongma La Pass on our blog. Link in bio

Kongma La Pass stands the tallest our of the three passes on the Three Passes Trek, one of the toughest treks in the Everest region covering the most beautiful routes you can trek. We walked over this pass on our day ten in the high Himalayas and it took us some 11 hours and a massive AMS headache, but it was worth it a 100%!!!

Chukhung Ri (we actually didn’t make it all the way to the top) was our acclimatization side trek. What I remember from chilling in Chukhung village is the terrace outside our tea house and the sun warming our faces after a rough but relatively short walk over the moraine... we stayed there for two nights prior to crossing the Kongma La Pass (and the very first pass on our trek) and both my hubby and I felt pretty sick, I was struggling with a mild case of the altitude sickness and he caught a stomach bug...

A beautiful starry night at Dingboche on day seven of our Everest Base Camp honeymoon. After a week of trekking up while struggling with altitude headaches I was excited and fearful of our first pass crossing - the Kongma La Pass. Dingboche was supposed to be a quick one night stop over with a side trek to acclimatize but we had to extend our stay. Check out the blog on day seven of trekking in the high Himalayas.
