G-G-G-GOD DAMN! A HUNDRED BUCKS FOR A 50 CENT GAME?!

I had to say it before everyone’s dad beat me to it. It’s 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand for the Playstation 3! Someone told me that this game is basically Gears of War with combos and 50 cent, which sounds pretty cool. Retrieve the crystal skull from the terrorist in time to play the G-Unit concert. Can you do it without getting shot a 10th time?!

Here’s a look at some of our newest additions to our Evangelion section. First up, we have the Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum Complete DVD Set from ADV Films! For the longest time, this was THE best and sometimes ONLY option for re-watching the series, with it’s remastered video and audio and select extended episodes. But now the real selling point is that original ADV Dub featuring the talents of Spike Spencer, Amanda Win Lee, the amazing Tiffany Grant as well as some other well known veteran VA’s. Of course there was a newer Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray that features the original dub, but that one goes for anywhere between $600-$900 these days and still doesn’t feature that ol’ Frank Sinatra classic sung by cute sounding Japanese women.

Next is Der Mond: The Art Of NGE by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer and manga artist for NGE. This large hardcover features early character designs and even some early concepts for the Eva’s themselves, as well as illustration’s for other Gainax and Hideaki Anno works like FLCL, Nadia, Royal Space Force, Love & Pop, and even some album art work for Eric Clapton.

And finally we have the sealed Evangelion Chronicle set of 2, 3 ringed binders that were originally sold alongside 2 other binder sets to store perforated files that could be found in Evangelion Chronicle Magazine, published by Sony Magazines. Of course if you don’t have any of these magazines you could always be the coolest kid in school with your exclusive and rare set of NGE school binders!

Here’s another look at the PRO-GRESSA Deformed The Great Sasuke 1999 Signed Figure! That’s right! This figure features a signature on the back by The Great Sasuke himself! You might have seen some similar figures of Great Sasuke in our shop, either a mini figure or a keychain with the same sculpt and design, but this one is a little bigger at about 6cm. There’s not much info about these PRO-GRESSA figures online, but from what I’ve gathered these typed of collectibles would be sold at wrestling events. If your a fan of Michinoku Pro, founded by Great Sasuke, check our website or visit our store for more Great Sasuke and Super Delfin profuct!

How many of you knew about this Robotech movie?

We’ve been testing a large amount of Spanish dubbed or subbed anime VHS tapes, and today I came across this and thought it was worth highlighting. This Robotech movie is an interesting anomaly in the series. It was released by Canon films, and it feels like one, with its more mature and violent tone, rather than the Saturday morning cartoon nature that fans of Robotech where used to. You would think a Robotech movie in 1986 would have been an adaptation of the Macross Do You Remember Love movie, but Tatsunoko had plans to release the movie in North America as Macross to capitalize on the success of Robotech. This left Carl Macek and Canon films to adapt a heavily edited version of the first Megazone 23 OVA, with an original ending animated just for this movie. As far as I can tell, the Robotech Movie has been disregarded by Harmony Gold, and hasn’t appeared in any Robotech DVD or Blu-ray sets except for some bonus features that showcase 30 minutes of the movie, minus all the Megazone 23 parts.

If you haven’t seen Megazone 23 before, it’s an essential for any sci-fi fan. There is no doubt that the Wachowski’s Matrix movies are heavily influenced by the plot of Megazone 23, and it was the best selling anime OVA for a very long time, with 1997’s Gundam Wing Endless Waltz being the first to even come close.

Just added this official Virtua Striker 2 Ver.99 Arcade Cabinet Decal to our website ⚽️ ⚡️
It’s 22.5”x32.5”, so if you don’t have a cabinet to apply this to, it still makes an excellent poster! In addition to being a piece of video game history, this doubles as a little bit of Toronto history. This decal originally came from the late Toronto Funland Arcade on Yonge Street, and for one miraculous reason or another, it was never applied to any of there cabinets. Who remembers playing there before they shut down in ‘08? For those of you around 18yrs or younger, that’s where the Jollibee’s is located near the Eaton Centre.

McFarlane’s Halo 3 Action Figures have arrived! Though these figures are 18 years old, and aren’t the standard six inch size collectors are used to, they still hold up and are regarded as one of the best line of Halo action figures to this day. They’re covered in sculpted details, paint, washes and weathering. Featuring a surprising amount of articulation that is somewhat limited by today’s standards, but just enough to pull off just about any pose you would need them to. Each character comes with weapons with mounting pegs to store on the figure when not in use, and of course they are interchangeable between characters, but if that’s not enough for you, you can always try and track down optional weapons packs. The smaller size of this line is most likely due to the fact that there was a decent number of vehicles in this line, which is just as important to the world of Halo as the weapons and cool armor. Apparently some of the Spartan armors from the later series have removable parts that can be interchanged between other characters to create some unique looks. One of the coolest figures has to be the Hayabusa Red Armor, inspired by Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden 2, which was another XBOX 360 exclusive title from that time.

After only 5 years since the final instalment of the Rebuild movies, EVANGELION is back! Just in time for our new stock of Evangelion prize statues to hit the shelves 😁

What are your thoughts on this new Eva project? Did you see the short film of a possible future for Shinji and Asuka? Do you not care about Evangelion at all, but are a fan of NieR? Does Yoko Taro writing the script spark an interest for you?

Personally, I’m torn. I’m happy Hideaki Anno will not be returning for this project because I’ve been excited to see him finally do something non-Eva related. Although without Anno it’s hard to acknowledge any new cannon material as truly Eva, but at least Kazuya Tsurumaki (director of the Rebuild films) will be returning. On one hand I would be happy with a spin off series, but I would also like to know what happened between the 2nd and 3rd movie if that’s a possible route for this new series?

Just finished uploading a bunch of Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts to our inventory, including a number of Premium Bandai, and Event Exclusive releases. Since there’s so many, we had to do some re-arranging to our shelves just to get everything to fit, and thought it would be a good time to show off our other S.H. Figuarts we still have in stock at the moment.

Here’s a look at some older Banpresto Dragon Ball statues from 2011. The name of this line, “Wild Style” perfectly fits the aesthetic of these figures. They feature over the top sculpting and detail, with texture and paint covering the entirety of the character. Unfortunately, this line was short lived, featuring exactly what you see here, but they fit in with other Banpresto Dragon Ball Kai figures from this time, like their “Dragon Ball Creatures” line. We also got in a large amount of early Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts, so don’t forget to take advantage of our in store SALE this weekend to get a better deal!
