Keep fridge and freezer doors shut as much as possible. A fridge will usually stay cold for about four hours if unopened. A full freezer can hold temperature for about 48 hours, a half-full one for about 24 hours.

When power comes back, check perishable food carefully. If you’re unsure, it’s safer to toss it.
