We have 2 more photographers to introduce you to today! 📸

Photographer Michael Schmidt is a Haines Junction (Dakwäkäda) based photographer specializing in wilderness and mountain scenes. Originally a geographer, Michael was appointed to the Order of Canada for his work pioneering GPS. Since his retirement he connects to the mountains through one of his first passions, photography.

Pictured here is "Kluane Hues", it is available exclusively as a print on metal at North End Gallery alongside two other panoramic mountain views that go great together as a set. We also have art cards by Michael featuring more stunning views in the Yukon as well as wildlife!

Last but not least in our series this week of local photographers, we have Robert Postma! 📸

At North End Gallery we carry 8x10 and 12x16 matted photo prints as well as art cards, calendars, and magnets featuring Robert Postma's work. He has captured some very unique northern light photos as well as Yukon animals - for example the very popular raven strutting in the snow pictured here.

Robert has a great sense of humour and isn't afraid to poke a little fun at himself, which can be seen in the variations of his artist bios on the back of his art cards. Next time you're in-store flip over some of his work and read the back for a chuckle.

Next up in our series of local photographers, we have another Peter— Peter Von Gaza!

�Peter Von Gaza has been involved in photography from a young age and has been primarily focused on Black and White. While many of his prints that we carry centre thematically on transportation such as trains, planes and flight hangars, we also love this action shot of sled dogs taking off on the Yukon Quest.

Today is World Photography Day! 📸

This week we will introduce you to all of our local photographers that are represented at the gallery.

First up, we have Peter Mather. This epic photo from a high vantage point above Wind River shows the turquoise waters cutting through the green land and earth below with sprawling stretches of mountains in the distance.

Here is a quote from Peter: "Photography provides me with the excuse to adventure and provides me with an opportunity to tell interesting, important and inspiring stories. I hope that my photography inspires us to be empathetic humans, with compassion for people we don't understand, our natural world and the animals that share this small planet with us."

With the exception of glass-front framed pieces, we will ship almost anything for you from our gallery to make sure it arrives to its final destination safely, in one piece, and save you the hassle of trying to fit it into your suitcase.

As a child, I would look at the bottom of trees, hoping I might find a fairy or a tiny door to their magical world.
