As a Mexican, September 15th is THE celebration 🇲🇽❤️ — not Cinco de Mayo, as some people may think!

Tonight, we celebrate the beginning of Mexico’s fight for independence from Spanish colonial rule, which began in 1810.

No matter where in the world we are, Mexicans are a strong and proud community. We love sharing our culture, our art, our food, our traditions, and our friendship. 🇲🇽

And this weekend, I felt that love and connection so much. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who stopped by my booth, talked with me, admired the jewelry, supported my small business, or took a little piece of Mexico home with you.

Today, I celebrate my beloved México and all of us who carry it in our hearts, wherever life has taken us.

Day 1 at Mexican Toronto! 🇲🇽✨

Wow! What an exciting day! One of my favorite moments was seeing people from last year come back to visit my booth and hearing things like, “I came last year and bought a pair of earrings — I still have them!” 🥹💕

It was definitely a tiring day, but such an amazing one! Seeing familiar faces, meeting new people, and watching you connect with the pieces I bring and assemble with so much love makes it all worth it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏼 for supporting Plata Viva MX and this little dream of mine. 💗🇲🇽

I’ve always loved Frida Kahlo’s art and all the beautiful colors surrounding her world. 🌺🇲🇽 It started all the way back in 8th grade, when I was living in Mexico City.

The first time I visited La Casa Azul in Coyoacán, I remember thinking to myself: “One day, I want my home to be this colorful and this Mexican.” 💙🌸

Well… that hasn’t happened YET 😂, but at least I can bring all those colors with me through my earrings!

These Frida-inspired pieces are full of color, little details, and a whole lot of México. 🇲🇽✨

I’ve been having so much fun assembling these keychains for the Mexican Toronto day this coming weekend!! These key chains have materials from Mexico, combining colourful details, little charms, and textures that remind me of our mercados and plazas!

Each one is a different mix of colours and themes (like the Luchadores and Mexican 💵 bills). They can for sure add a little personality to your everyday accessories. ✨

Sometimes all it takes is a color, a song, a favorite food, or a little piece of Mexico to make us feel a little closer to home. 🇲🇽❤️

These earrings make me think of exactly that: all those little pieces of home we carry with us as we build a life far away from Mexico.

These colourful butterfly earrings combine handwoven palm-leaf flowers from Chilapa, Guerrero, with butterfly charms made of resin. Each pair is full of colour, texture, and Mexican artistry.

And of course, the monarch feels extra special to me. Every year, monarch butterflies make their incredible journey between Canada and Mexico — two places that are also part of Plata Viva’s story. 🇨🇦🤍🇲🇽
