Keeping the original audio because listen to that WIND! My face was windburned and my hands were chilled to the bone after working on my mural yesterday - and I truly can’t imagine life any other way. I am a busy, wandering, art-making ant and whenever I find like-minded creatures, I feel a little more at home.

Yesterday, I wandered a block over to check out the latest mural by Tiffany Jorgensen Artwork and when I say it is STUNNING 🤩 It was a delight to watch her work, as always.

Tiffany is working on an incredible project, a collaborative piece being painted on the back of the CRD building on 3rd Avenue North in downtown Williams Lake. Individual panels by 6 different mural artists will create a beautiful view for the residents of Age Care Cariboo Place.

From Downtown Williams Lake :

“A passion project initiated by Williams Lake residents Tammy Tugnam and Chip Schick, this multi-year project is being supported by incredible businesses and donors in our community. The first two panels of this mural were painted in 2025. Tiffany’s artistry will add the wild horses of the Chilcotin plains to the cattle drive, logging truck and wilderness beauty painted by Dwayne Davis and Steven Gosling-Davis last year. Each panel is added in a seamless progression to show off the beauty of the Cariboo-Chilcotin. Downtown Williams Lake BIA is thrilled to partner with the City of Williams Lake and help support this amazing project again through our 2026 Public Art Grant!”

This summer was the first season of my life where I’ve been entirely self-employed. I was 13 hours short of meeting qualifications for EI from my school district work, so it was really a hustle to make sure it all worked out. I’m abundantly proud to be here. Freelancing is not for the faint of heart 💜 I intentionally booked off this week at the end of it all, knowing I’d need to recuperate and goodness am I grateful to past Courtney. I spent this week hiking and swimming and feasting on wild blueberries. We skinny-dipped in waterfalls and climbed barefoot down mudslides. I took every deep breath of pine-scented air I possibly could and for the first time in a long time, I feel rested. And ready! Back to work 🧚

Two years ago I saw a grant application for a city mural. I thought that sounded pretty neat but way too big for me to try. One year ago I saw this wall and thought “I want to paint that” but wasn’t sure if I’d be allowed. Today, I’m painting it! One of the biggest lessons of my thirties is that you can just do stuff, you know? Like you can figure it out and do the things you want to do. For someone who grew up very constricted and scared, this is pretty freeing. Let’s paint a mural!

Preparations begin!
Thankful for good help.
And the The Bean Counter Bistro & Coffee Bar for helping out my kids when my card wasn’t working 🤦‍♀️ we’ll be around for the next few weeks and buy many pretzels and smoothies, I’m sure. Thanks to Downtown Williams Lake and City of Williams Lake for this opportunity!
