HPI Inc's company history starts in 1986 in Irvine, California as an importer and the distributor of electric racing motors for RC cars. HPI has basically started the company by making the racing motors and batteries. Masami Hirosaka, the legendary driver gave this first world title to HPI. In the late 80's, we started to make option parts such as racing tires, wheels and machined aluminum parts f
or racing cars. In the mid 90's, HPI started to make their first racing car kits called "HPI super F1". It is the Formula one style racing car kit. Around this time, HPI started to also make the competition 1/10th scale electric touring cars called RS4, and after that Micro RS4. This is when HPI launched the RC racing cars. In the end of the 90's, HPI acquired "Hot Bodies" the RC racing body manufacturing company. Then in the early 2000, HPI started to shift HB company into a racing car brand. Then started making 1/8th scale off road racing kits such as 1/8th scale buggies/truggies. At this period, Atsushi Hara became the official first HPI/HB driver. Today, HB manufactures 1/8th & 1/10th on road & off road and we plan to continue making them and explore the "racing" fun. After 3 consecutive podiums and a victory in 2008 with Hara, HB come back at the top level with Ty Tessmann and a second world champion’s title. The legend is happening now!
