DMX512 Lighting Across Five Buildings | Architectural Facade Lighting Project

How Can Lighting Connect Five Buildings?

At the Headquarters Economic Zone Phase II in Guangzhou Science City, China, DMX512 control links the lighting across all five buildings, creating a coordinated lighting effect throughout the complex. Holiday and energy-saving modes are also included to create different lighting atmospheres at different times and for different occasions.

By carefully setting the light output, beam angles and colors, the lighting highlights the shape and details of each building. The colors change together across all five buildings, while brightness is adjusted for different areas.

These changes create a clear contrast between light and shadow, helping key architectural features stand out while keeping the overall effect coordinated. The result is a striking nighttime landmark for the Headquarters Economic Zone.

Shone Lighting was honored to continue supporting the Headquarters Economic Zone by working closely with the project partner and supplying the linear lighting products used throughout Phase II.

How Can Light Transform a Business District at Night?

Located in Guangzhou Science City, China, the Headquarters Economic Zone Phase II uses clean and simple linear light to highlight the modern and elegant character of the architecture. Media facade lighting adds depth and visual rhythm across the development.

Inspired by the smart city concept, the design creates a bright and impressive nighttime environment while giving the development a clear identity after dark.

To bring this design to life, Shone Lighting worked closely with the project partner to develop a suitable product solution. The team focused on uniform light output, concealed installation and the overall lighting effect. Based on these requirements, Shone Lighting’s 35 × 39 mm linear lights were selected for the project.

Waterproof Testing for Reliable Outdoor Performance

Each sealed product undergoes a two-step waterproof inspection:

🔥 Step 1: Heat the water to 60°C, then immerse the cold product for 5 minutes.
❄️ Step 2: Cool the water to 10°C, then immerse the heated product for 5 minutes.

This process verifies the product’s sealing integrity and waterproof performance under rapid temperature changes.

How do you illuminate a large public staircase without altering its daytime appearance?

At HI CITY in Zhuhai, China, the staircase connecting the plaza to the Zhuhai Grand Theatre viewing platform needed a stronger nighttime presence while retaining its original stone finish.

Shone Lighting supplied customized 1000 × 85 × 30 mm LED Step Tiles featuring:

✔ Marble-textured surfaces that blend with the existing steps
✔ Anti-slip mounting channels for concealed installation
✔ DMX512 control for dynamic lighting effects

⚙️ Automated potting is one of the key steps behind reliable waterproofing for outdoor linear lights.

Once cured, the potting compound forms a durable seal that prevents rainwater and moisture from entering the fixture.

This is our high-temperature aging process for semi-finished outdoor luminaires.

Before moving to the next production stage, each fixture is placed in an aging room at 60°C and continuously powered on for 6 hours.

During the test, its lighting condition and electrical performance are inspected. Only fixtures with no issues detected proceed to the next production stage.
