Sourcing LED Advertising Materials from China: Must-Know Pitfall Guide
If you import LED strips, sign light modules, LED display and advertising light boxes from Chinese factories, these traps will cost you money & delay projects—save this checklist!
1. Supplier Trap: Traders Pretend to Be Factories
Many online stores are middlemen without production lines. ✅ Check factory license, ask for live workshop video & local overseas project cases. ✅ Avoid suspicious ultra-low quotations—cheap price = inferior chips & PCB boards.
2. Certification Customs Risk
CE/FCC/RoHS certificates are model-specific, not universal. Fake/expired docs cause cargo detention & heavy fines. ✅ Match certificate model number exactly with your LED strip orders. ✅ Prepare official Declaration of Conformity for customs clearance.
3. LED Strip Spec Hidden Traps (Take your 24V SMD optical LED strip as example)
Common misleading points suppliers skip:
Voltage: Most factories default to 220V AC; confirm 24V DC clearly on PI
Waterproof grade: Distinguish IP20 indoor vs IP65 waterproof outdoor versions
Core parameters: LED chip brand, CRI 80/90, 170° beam angle, actual lumen output
Size & cuttable unit: Confirm 12mm width, cut every 15cm to avoid installation failure ✅ Write ALL specs (24W/m, 60 LEDs/m, color temp 2700K/4000K/6000K/RGB) on Proforma Invoice in writing.
4. Sample vs Bulk Quality Scam
Samples use high-quality raw materials, but mass production downgrades accessories. ✅ Seal confirmed sample as production standard; demand 24–48h aging test before shipment. ✅ Require thick PCB, full 3M adhesive, solid PC cover for optical LED strips.
5. Price & Payment Hidden Charges
Quotes often exclude pallet, export package, inspection & local port fees. ✅ Clarify trade term EXW/FOB/CIF upfront, list all extra costs. ✅ Safe payment: 30% deposit, balance against BL copy; never full prepayment.
