Your Products Can't Ship to Europe Without This — Here's What Changed in 2026
If you're selling security cameras into Europe, pay attention. The rules just changed.
What's happening:
The EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is now in force. This isn't a "nice to have" standard. It's a legal requirement. Starting September 2026, manufacturers must report serious vulnerabilities. By December 2027, all digital products sold in the EU must meet CRA requirements .
What this means for camera brands:
🔹 Your camera needs to be "secure by design" — security must be built in from the start, not added later
🔹 You must maintain a software bill of materials — track every component in your supply chain
🔹 Security updates must be provided for at least 5 years — plan for long-term support
🔹 Vulnerabilities must be reported — active exploits must be reported to authorities within 24 hours
What happens if you don't comply?
❌ Products can't carry the CE mark — they won't be allowed into the EU market
❌ Fines up to €15 million or 2.5% of global turnover
❌ Risk of product recalls and legal action
The bigger picture:
