A new week has begun and the weather is nice.
We will share with you the situations we have frequently encountered recently. Let's take them as a warning and always be vigilant about the security of our payments and receipts.
All along, when we communicate with our clients, we use methods such as emails, WeChat, WhatsApp and other instant messaging tools. With the advancement of technology, cybersecurity has become extremely important.
Our client shared this incident: During the communication about the factory's orders, the deposit confirmation, and the pictures and videos of the bulk production, all were conducted via emails. But one day, a hacker pretended to be the factory's email account and contacted the client, proposing that due to certain reasons, the factory's payment account had changed, and the remaining payment should be made to another account.
My client thought that the account had been changed and needed to confirm with the corresponding factory. (However, he made a mistake; he directly confirmed with the fraudster via email, and the fraudster replied that the new account was correct.) The client directly transferred the remaining payment to the fraudster's account.
After the client made the payment, the fraudster pretended to be the client's email and contacted the factory, mentioning that the payment extension time had been postponed.
At this point, the customer has suffered financial losses due to hackers. Therefore, the involved amount needs to be confirmed again through phone calls and instant messaging tools to ensure the security of the account.
