A 2022 grain-industry study named the trap emerging regions keep falling into
Weak post-harvest handling is the real reason grain grows but the price stays low
A 2022 provincial grain-industry study (Guizhou) reached a conclusion that holds far beyond one province. Many regions grow and harvest the grain, then stall at post-harvest. Too many small workshops, weak storage, low added value.

The study also flags thin credit support and weak project planning. The real bottleneck in such regions is rarely a lack of will. More often it is the absence of a post-harvest engineering plan that can be argued for and actually built.
