When it comes to caring for your ci**rs, here are some tips to help you ensure your ci**rs always look their best:
1. Temperature and humidity:
- The optimal storage temperature for ci**rs is 18-21°C. Temperatures that are too low will weaken the cigar’s aging process, while temperatures that are too high may cause the cigar to spoil.
- Keep the relative humidity between 65-75% to ensure the ci**rs stay moist. High-quality handmade ci**rs can be stored for many years without losing flavor.
2. Breathe fresh air:
- Open the humidor at least once every two weeks to provide fresh air inside the humidor.
3. Maximum time ci**rs should be stored:
- If stored in a humidor, there is theoretically no time limit for storing ci**rs as long as the relative humidity is kept constant between 65-75% and fresh air is provided. High quality handmade ci**rs can last for many years without losing flavor.
4. Over-aging of ci**rs:
- Exquisite ci**rs are usually matured in the factory or distributor's air-conditioned equipment for about 6 months before being shipped to the to***co house.
- It is recommended to age the ci**rs in your own humidor for 3-6 months after purchase so that the ci**rs can develop a more stable flavor.
5. Cigar’s “marriage”:
- Ci**rs absorb odors from their surroundings, so it is best to keep different brands of ci**rs in separate humidors to avoid odor transfer.
- Some cigar aficionados will store ci**rs from different brands in the same humidor for several months to blend out their favorite flavors.
6. Tumble ci**rs regularly:
- In a large humidor, the level of humidity depends on the humidification system, so ci**rs need to be turned every 1-3 months.
- Alternatively, place ci**rs that need long-term storage far away from the humidifier to mature, and place ci**rs that will be consumed in the near future closer to the humidifier.
