Iridium or Nickel Alloy — which one is right for an industrial spark plug?
It depends on the application.
Iridium offers excellent resistance to electrode wear and allows a fine electrode design, which can support reliable ignition over extended service intervals.
Nickel alloy, on the other hand, remains a practical choice for applications where operating conditions and cost requirements call for a different balance.
For industrial engines, there is no “best” electrode material for every application.
The right choice starts with the engine, fuel and operating conditions.**
