Calling our global community: Let’s pull together for a very special rescuer! 🌍
Behind the scenes of Cyprus rescue, there are quiet heroes who give absolutely everything they have. One of those beautiful souls is the deeply respected Stalo — many of you know and love her affectionately as the Stalo Mountain Rescuer 💕
Right now, Stalo is facing an incredibly difficult situation. We recently found out just how major her surgery actually was and she is now facing a very long road to recovery - this has a massive knock-on effect for the animals.
She simply cannot manage the heavy daily physical work like lifting, feeding and cleaning up after so many lives on her own. On top of that, she can't run her vital twice-weekly market stall, which is how she completely funds all their food and care.
Meow Meow Cyprus has already jumped in to help, the incredible volunteer Lisa Rijpma travelled all the way from the Netherlands and has been working her socks off on the ground since the 17th of July! Lisa is due to fly home on the 21st of August, which means her time with Stalo is coming to an end.
To give you an idea of the daily scale of work up there, Stalo is currently caring for 35 animals in total:
🐱 20 cats
🐶 4 dogs
🦔 2 hedgehogs
🐢 5 turtles
🐹 2 guinea pigs
🐰 1 rabbit..and knowing rescue, that number is likely to grow very soon! 😅
On top of her permanent residents, she also feeds a steady stream of visiting stray cats who stop by for a good meal before wandering back off.
Because there is still so much more to do once Lisa leaves, we want to ensure Stalo's animals are perfectly safe, that we find volunteers and help financially. We know this is a huge task, but we also know exactly what our global family is capable of when we unite. Let's make this happen!
Moving forward, we are putting a solid plan into action and need our amazing supporters to join the official efforts we are making:
🏡 Hands-on Volunteers: Whether you are travelling from abroad or can just spare a week to stay and help out, please message our page directly to coordinate.
📦 Donation Points for Stall Stock: We are setting up official drop-off points across the country to collect physical goods. We can accept literally anything that can be sold on her stall so she can hit the ground running later! Can you help with a drop-off point or donate items?
🎉 Fundraising Events: We want to get individual events going all across Cyprus. We need volunteers for everything - from people who can just show up and help on the day to those who want to organise an independent event under our guidance. The more hands on deck, the better!
